Early that morning (because vampires are nocturnal and they sleep during daylight), you laid in bed restlessly tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
It wasn't exactly the thought of your parent's death—although that still haunted you—but it was more of the fact that you were scared Zero would find you again and send you back with an even more defensive shield for you.
And because you were in your room alone, it made it even worse and you felt that you had never felt even more alone than the moment.
And that was what scared you the most.
"Can't sleep?"
At first you thought that that voice was just in your head, until you realized that that was exactly it and remembered the special ability you were given due to finding out who your soulmate was.
How did you know?
"I had a feeling," Jungkook said, "literally. I can feel your restless energy."
Sorry.
"You don't have to be." It was almost shocking to hear such gentleness in his voice but maybe he actually did had some sympathy within him despite the cold nature he would always hide behind.
Sighing softly, you replied a little hesitantly because speaking to him in such a way—with a conversation that emitted no tension between the two of you, just two people having a heart to heart conversation for the first time—it felt a little strange.
I'm just...scared.
"Yeah. Yuri was too."
Yuri. The one that must had been bonded to Jungkook before you. It made sense, everything connected starting from when you had first met Jungkook. He despised you because Yuri had been the one with the royal blood before you and you had replaced her which made him even more angry when a new revelation revealed that you and him were bonded.
Zero told you that Yuri had also been bonded which meant that Jungkook had really been bonded to Yuri.
You could feel that a part of Jungkook was still not over Yuri, that he could never forget about her and how could he? Yuri had been his soulmate. His first soulmate. And you...you were just someone thrown into the picture to replace that image. If you had been in his place, you'd definitely hate your new soulmate as well so you couldn't blame Jungkook for hating you.
"I don't hate you," Jungkook clarified softly. "It's not your fault, I know that. I'm just..angry at this whole soulmate thing."
Yeah, you nodded mostly to yourself because Jungkook couldn't see you. I would be too. And it just...this whole royal blood thing is overwhelming. I mean, all of a sudden I'm told that I have this great power within me and because of that, a powerful demon is after me and stopping at nothing and I have protectors that will..gosh, you groaned uncomfortably, Jin risked his own life to get me away from Zero's attack.
"He's fine now."
You grunted. Still doesn't make me feel better.
"Nothing will. Not until Zero's dead."
That's true but sometimes a small moment with friends, jokes and laughters, warm smiles and hugs can be just enough to make things better..if even a little.
Just the thought of it all had given you hope to your life. No matter what tragedy and hardships you may face with Zero and all, knowing that you had the guys and that you weren't alone to face it all made you feel light. Even the fact that Jungkook had left some of his hatred towards you to talk to you and to make you feel that you really weren't alone had already begun to make things better.
