JUNGKOOK POV
It meant only one thing; that you...you weren't Y/N...you were Yuri.
You weren't yourself but someone else. Living in someone's else body because she had died and given another chance at things. And you were the one the universe had chosen to give her soul to.
You weren't Y/N.
Jungkook should be happy...right?
But why? As you sat alone in the corner of your room, darkness filling the space like the void, knees propped up against your chest as you tried your best not to let the revelation get too much for you, why...why wasn't Jungkook happy?
He was angry at the world when his soulmate was taken away from him, angry at the fact that he found out you were his soulmate, so why couldn't he be happy when the truth came out that you were the reincarnation of Yuri? Why wasn't he happy?
He couldn't be happy.
Not when things had turned out so right with you, when he felt so content and at peace in your room a few days ago, when everything felt just right with you in his arms, when he had came so close to your lips.
Not when you were alone in your dark room and he could feel how confused you were, how hurt you were at the fact that you weren't exactly...Y/N.
"Jungkook, I understand your confusion at the moment but...you're hurting her."
Jungkook looked up to find his best friend walking into his room uninvited. He knew what Jimin meant, understood what he was saying, and though he wanted to get angry at Jimin for walking in and blaming him, he couldn't. Because he knew it himself that he was hurting you by letting you fall apart alone in your room.
"I don't know what to do, hyung," Jungkook admitted, letting out an exasperated sigh as he ran his fingers along his hair. "I don't know what to do with that information."
"Well," Jimin sighed, pursing his lips as he grabbed a nearby chair to sit in front of Jungkook. "How do you feel?" He asked before narrowing his gaze. "And I want the honest truth. It doesn't matter who'll get hurt; you, Y/N, or Yuri. Tell me the truth."
Y/N or Yuri, he said.
He spoke the two names as if they were two completely different people.
As Jungkook looked at his best friend, he could see the glint of love and care the man had for his soulmate. Jimin, even though he knew the fact that Y/N was just a reincarnation of Yuri, could see the difference between the two; his friend, and the girl he grew to love.
A part of Jungkook felt guilty towards his friend because he knew from the first time Jimin had spoke about you to him, that Jimin was already in love.
But Jimin wanted the truth and there was no way he could lie to his friend. Jimin would know.
"I like Y/N," Jungkook said.
There wasn't any I think or I might, but a simple straightforward confession.
Because it was true.
He liked it when your eyes lit up when he showed you the sun. He liked it when your nose twitched at the smell of food. When you giggled and when those giggles turn into beautiful laughters. When your eyes would go a bit wider as your head tilted to a side, showing pure confusion. How vulnerable you could sometimes be when you cared too much for others. Or when you'd allow him in and show him your vulnerability.
He liked his arms around you, liked it when you leaned in a little closer with hesitation for his touches. When he could feel your presence and not have to worry about where you were or whether you were hurt or not. The smiles you had finally shown him after he changed his attitude.
He was missing it; that smile that managed to make him feel warm and comforted.
You were similar yet so different from Yuri.
While Yuri was the moon, you were the sun.
He loved the moon, it was what he grew to see and love all his life because of being a vampire. Yuri was the light that shined when no stars appeared in the night. He was so used to her presence, to her love, to her existence that just the thought of it leaving was out of the world.
So when the moment she left, it was like his own self leaving. He had to learn to let go but how could he when it was his soulmate that left the world?
Until you came.
It wasn't great at first. The moment was like that blinding flash of light when the curtains had opened after a long night of good sleep. He hated it.
Though he realized indulging himself in dreams and fantasies wasn't going to be real happiness so he decided for one moment; to wake up. The night would come again and he'd be able to dream once more, be welcomed by the moon.
You were a mystery he never wanted to figure out. He looked at you with frustration, hated that the mere presence of you had erupted sparks he never wanted. All he wanted to do was to let the night fall once more, swallowing the day in so that he could smile at the beauty of the stars and moon.
He never looked at you, never acknowledged your presence. Until the night did swallowed you up and he was left wondering where you had gone.
He looked for you when you disappeared. The feeling of missing your warmth finally hit him and he realized he did liked the sun even when it could be annoying. Though he had known you were still alive, the fact that he couldn't see you anymore, the fact that he couldn't feel you anymore alarmed fear within in.
The devil had taken that one source of light from him. And because the sun was gone, the night became completely filled of darkness. He couldn't look for a moon because it was no longer there.
So he instead searched for the sun.
He knew now that he'd never want to let go of you ever again.
"Then tell her."
Jungkook looked up, trying to search for answers from his best friend. "What about you?"
"What about me?" Jimin shrugged, though a glint of sadness lingered in his eyes. "She's your soulmate, Kooks. Y/N's a great person, I love her. But in this story, we'll only always be friends. And I'm fine with that now," he paused, a sad smile curling at his lips at the thought of you. "If it means I can still be here to protect her as her guardian, then I'm fine with being just friends. After all, I've my own soulmate waiting for me. I can't linger feelings for someone who isn't meant to be mine."
Jungkook smiled, eyes of admiration at Jimin. "I can't wait for that, hyung. She'll be a lucky one."
"Thanks for understanding."
"No," Jungkook shook his head, "I should be thanking you for that."
He smiled, nodding as a light chuckle escaped his lips. "Take care of her, Kook. You're the only one I trust her with." He reached over to place a hand on Jungkook's shoulder, beckoning his head towards the door. "Now go before she breaks apart. You know how that girl is."
Jungkook could see the lingering sadness in his friend's eyes but the process of accepting himself of finally letting go made Jimin smile sincerely at him.
So he stood up, nodding at his words, understanding that letting go wasn't always going to be easy. But he knew two things; he couldn't have two at the same time, and that one of them he'd have to let go.
Because as the sun rose, the moon fell, allowing the bright star to take its place. And you, you were his sun.
