Wednesday:

Sally and I stayed after school for a cheer meeting.

"Okay, girls to make Varsity, you need a back handspring, a split, and a round-off. They all need to be executed perfectly in your tryouts. Feel free to add other moves such as flips or aerials, but if you can do one of your extra moves better than the required moves, you will be put on Junior Varsity." Our coach said.

Sally whispered to me. "I can't do a split or a back handspring, Peggy!"

"It's fine. We'll work on it." I whispered back smiling.

"For tryouts, wear your cheer shoes, shorts, your shirt tucked in, and your hair pulled back into a ponytail. We will see you on Friday." The meeting was over.

Sally and I walked out of school. We were walking back to her house to practice. Suddenly, someone stopped us while we walked past the school.

"Do you wanna ride?"

It was John.

"John!" I ran up and hugged him. "What are you doing here?"

"Football meeting."

"Oh, cool." I said still hugging him.

"So do you wanna ride?"

"Yeah, can you take us to Sally's house?"

"Sure."

"Do you know where it is?" Sally asked.

"You live 3 houses down from me, right?"

"Yeah, that's it." She said.

We got into John's car, and he drove us to Sally's house.

"Thanks for the ride, babe."

"Oh, no problem. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay, love you!"

"Love you more!"

He got back into his car and drive down to his house. Sally and I went in the back yard and started to practice.

"Let's just warm up quick." Sally said.

We ran laps, did some stretching, and did a few cartwheels before we started.

"You can lead our practice, Pegs."

"Okay. Round-off."

We both did our round-offs. Both of them were strong.

"Split. Both ways."

Both of our front splits were perfect. Sally's side splits were only slightly off.

"I told you I couldn't do a split."

"Just keep doing those stretches. You're only off an inch. Now, back handspring."

My back handspring was great, but Sally's didn't have a clean landing.

"Okay. For this, just remember to breathe. Stay focused and concentrate. Try again."

She tried again and landed it perfectly.

"Wow! Thanks!"

"Yep. Now, anything else you can do?"

"Front and back walkovers."

"Okay, what about on the trampoline?"

"A flip."

"Good, we're both short, so we might have to be flyers."

She showed me her front and back walkovers and her flip on the trampoline.

"Can you do anything else?"

"Yeah."

"Show me!"

I did an aerial, flip, and some really flexible stretches.

"You're definitely going to make Varsity!"

"So will you!"

"Not a chance."

"Just keep practicing."

"Okay."

"I have to go. Bye! See you tomorrow!!"

"Bye!"

I lived in the direction of John's house, so I went up to the door and knocked.

"Hello." Said his mom.

"Hi, I'm Peggy. Is John home?"

"Oh my god! You're his girlfriend! You're Angelica and Eliza's little sister, right?"

"Yes." Wow; Angelica and Eliza's little sister. I liked John's girlfriend better.

"You're so pretty!"

"Thank you." I liked that.

"Oh no problem, honey. I'll go get John."

She closed the door and went to find him.

"I see you met my mom." John said opening the door.

"Yeah, she seems nice."

"So, um, did you need something?"

"Yeah. I was wondering if you could give me a ride home."

"Sure. Come on."

He opened the door for me to get in.

"How'd I get so lucky to have you?" I said smiling.

"The same way I was lucky enough to have you." He grabbed my hand and started for my house.

When we got to my house, I turned to open the door. "Thanks for the ride, babe."

"Wait, baby, one thing."

I turned to him. He leaned in and kissed me. It was like holding a warm pillow close to your face. When he pulled away, my hand was on his freckled cheek. He put his hand on mine. I stared into his green eyes.

"I love you, Peggy."

"I love you, John."

He drove back to his house.

"Woo! Go Peggy!" Angelica screamed from her bedroom window.

I flipped her off.

Aw! How cute? This ship is sailing pretty good in my opinion. Did you catch the BMC reference? Probably.
