I tried for hours after school to talk to Maria, but she wouldn't answer. Not only could I not talk to my best friend, but now my girlfriend wasn't talking to me. Ugh!
"Who are you texting?" Lia asked sitting next to me on my bed. "Alex?" She leaned in closer to look at my screen. "Oh, Maria! Wait, she isn't answering you."
"Yeah." I sighed.
"Why not?"
"I don't know. Maybe because of her panic attack."
"She had a panic attack?"
"Yeah. When Alex was beating up this kid who was being mean to me." Then it hit me why she had a panic attack- the fighting was similar to when James had abused her.
"Alex beat someone up! Oh my god!"
"Yeah. And before you ask, he does punch real good."
Lia giggled. "Speaking of JD and Veronica, you need to sneak into Maria's room."
"Why would I do that?"
"To make her happy of course! Are you stupid?"
"Well what do I do when I sneak into her room? Hm?"
"You must be stupid! You do what JD and Veronica did obviously."
"Lia, what the hell?"
"Oh please! It's not like I'm telling you to do it with Gay Boy or Alex!"
"Only I get to call John that!"
"Too bad. Now out the window. Come on! We don't have all night!"
"What about Mama and Daddy?"
"I'll tell Eliza and Angelica and we'll cover for you! Now go!"
I kissed her cheek then went towards the window. I climbed out and headed for Maria's house. I snuck up to her window. She was in there on her phone. So she really was just ignoring me. I opened the window quietly, and luckily she didn't notice. Of course, when I tried to climb through, I ended up falling.
"Peggy!" Mar said startled.
"Dreadful etiquette I apologize." I said getting up.
"Why are you in my room?"
"You weren't answering me, and I wanted to talk to you. Plus Lia told me to do this."
"Yeah, listen, I'm sorry. It's just-"
"James?" I sat next to her on the bed and reached for her hand.
"Yeah." She said pushing her hair behind her ear. "Well anyway, what are we supposed to do now?"
"Whatever you want to; I just want you to be happy." I smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Come on. Lia didn't send you here to do what I want!" She laughed.
"What do you mean?" I asked nervously.
"She obviously wanted us to-"
"Alright, yes she did; that's why she sent me here."
"Well alright." She shrugged.
"What? She's six! We don't have to listen to her."
"So you'll do it with the gayest boy alive but not me?"
"That's not what I meant!"
"Oh it's fine. I guess I just won't be happy." She said clearly trying to guilt me.
"Fine, I'll be your dead girl walking."
"Let's make this beautiful." She smirked.
Tuesday:
"Babes, come on. Wake up. We have school." Maria said waking me up.
"Shit, I have to get home! Love you!" I kissed her quick then ran home. I didn't fall through her window this time. When I got home, I climbed back up through the window. Of course, Cornelia was there waiting.
"Jeez, Meg! You're gonna be late for school! I guess you had fun last night." Lia laughed.
"Yeah sure whatever." I said running to my closet and grabbing clothes. I quickly pulled my hair up and started to walk to the door.
"Um, Meg?"
"What now?" I asked annoyed. I caught a glimpse of myself in our mirror. "Son of a bitch!"
"Haha good luck hiding that from Mommy and Daddy!"

The three of us walked out the door. "Did anyone know I was gone except for you two and Lia?" I asked.
"No. We made sure no one found out." Eliza said sweetly.
