Saturday:

I woke up after having about two hours of uneasy sleep all night and decided to check on Sally. The only thing was it said her account was deleted. I tried her number. It said it wasn't in service. What was going on? It really must have been my fault!

What was wrong with Sally? Why couldn't I contact her? Or anyone for that matter? Something was up. What was happening? Why wouldn't she tell me? After all she's my best friend! Before I knew it, I was crying.

"Hey, sh." Cornelia said waking up and hugging me. I forgot she was on my bed. "What's wrong?"

"Something is wrong with Sally. Last night, something happened to her." I said wiping the tears from my eyes. "Now, I can't talk to her."

"Well I'm sure there's a reason."

"Yeah, but what could it be? That everything was my fault?"

"I'm sure it wasn't." That's what I thought. I didn't know what to believe. "How about this: I'll go get us some strawberries and oreos and we can watch something on your laptop."

I smiled. "Alright, Lia." She out the door to get our breakfast I guess, and I reached under my bed for my laptop. I felt something else though. The knife. It was still there? I pulled it out. Was this all my fault? It was my fault she went to the party where she first met Thomas. It's my fault Thomas liked her. It's my fault she liked him. It was my fault. Maybe I should try this again. I held out my arm and-

"Meg! No!" Lia said setting down our food and knocking the knife out of my hand. "No!" She started crying and hugging me.

"I'm so sorry." I said crying too.

"You told me you wouldn't do it again! You promised!"

"I said I was sorry."

She pushed me off and grabbed my laptop from under the bed. She typed something in and hit play.

"Satisfying videos? Really?" I said bringing over the strawberries and oreos and sitting on my bed next to her.

"They help." And so an hour or so passed by of us watching satisfying videos. They did help.

"What's going on in here?" Angelica said opening the door. "You two have been in hear all morning!"

"We've been watching satisfying videos because Peggy is sad." Lia said.

"Satisfying videos? Let me see." She sat down. "How do you find satisfaction in cutting soap?"

"How do you not?" Lia said moving the laptop towards her.

"You two are weird." She laughed as she got off of the bed. "What's this?" She said picking up the knife. Fuck.

"We were cutting strawberries." Lia lied.

"It's clean."

"We wiped it off."

"Why is it on the floor?"

"So it didn't stab us."

"What did you wipe it off with?"

"A napkin."

"Where's the napkin?"

"In the garbage."

"Fine." She said walking out of the room with the knife.

"Thanks, Lia." I smiled.

"Don't mention it."

After a few more hours of spending time together, it was time to get ready to take Lia trick or treating. We both got in our Veronica, I mean, Veronica Sawyer and Heather Slushie Dean costumes and waited for Maria. She grabbed my hand and we went downstairs. John and Alex were here.

Alex didn't see Lia so she ran up to him. "Alex!"

"Well hi, Lia." He said turning around and picking her up. "You look adorable."

"You're Veronica too?" John asked.

"No!" She said defiantly. "I'm Heather Slushie Dean, JD and Veronica's kid thank you very much."

"So you're what happened when they made purple?" Alex asked.

"Yep!"

Then Maria came in her JD costume. "How are my two beautiful girls?" She asked hugging me and Lia. "Ready to go?"

"You're leaving?" Alex asked.

"I'm going trick or treating. I'll bring you back some candy." Lia said smiling. "Bye!"

"Bye!"

We walked down the street going to just about every house. We walked all the way to Sally and John's street. As we got closer to Sally's house, I noticed something strange. A for sale sign. She was moving? I saw Mrs. Hemmings loading things into the car. "Hi, Mrs. Hemmings. Is Sally home? I tried talking to he-"

"Yes I know. She's just left this morning with her dad."

"Why are you guys moving? Why can't I talk to her? What's going on?" I started panicking.

"She got pregnant. We're erasing all contact with the people who know her. We don't want her to get bullied."

"But you don't understand! She's my best friend!" I shouted.

"Find a new one." She said getting into her car and driving away.

I broke down in tears. My best friend was gone. Forever. I'll never see her again. Maria and Lia decided to just go home. We didn't even get to go to John's house. Even though he wasn't there, Eleanor was so sweet. Oh and Martha too.

"Where's my candy?" Alex asked Lia as we walked in the door.

"Pegs, what's wrong?" Eliza asked walking up to me.

"Sally is moving." Mar said for me.

"What?" John asked.

"She got pregnant and her family wants to erase her past." I said.

"That's terrible!"

"Believe me; I know." It really was my fault.

"Uh, who wants some candy?" Lia shouted trying to change the subject.
