Book 1 of the Star-Crossed Series
||COMPLETE||
Everybody knows the story of Romeo & Juliet, but what if we twist it a little bit?
Welcome to Star-Crossed Alphas where a tale as old as time will be rewritten and a world of supernatural creatures wil...
After some quality time with my mate hidden away in an empty room, I was finally able to convince him to go join our packs and get something to eat. Surely by now they must have notice our absence.
We walk together, side by side into the cafeteria. Everybody was chatting happily, they were all excited with the final challenge. They cheered when they saw us come in, and I couldn't help but smile and wave at them as I make my way to where the food is.
I grab the things I want with Romeo next to me, our movements align with one another, it was like each knew what the other one needed or what the other one was about to do. To us it was almost instinct but sometimes we forget that we are werewolves and that we live surrounded by werewolves.
As we turn around we see that most of the people in the cafeteria were looking at us. As we pass them the most surprising thing happen, they started to bow their heads. The bow of the head was an act of submission, but more importantly, it was an act of acceptance, of respect and loyalty. This people, our people, both packs, were basically stating that they approved of our union.
On and on it went, every single person we passed kept bowing their head, and my heart could not be more full. There is no amount of words that manage to describe the feeling that resides in my heart right now. But I did know is that it was full of gratitude. Gratitude and love. So much love. I love my people, our people. And in as we pass by them I steal a glance at Romeo, briefly connecting our eyes and we knew. Our people were ready. And we both made a promise that day, that no matter what happens, we would protect them. Both of them, or die trying.
As we reach our table, all eyes were still on us. As if they were waiting for something. I place my things at the table and Romeo does the same. He turns to look at me and I don't even stop to think about it. I reach over and kiss him. I kiss him, right there, in the middle of the school's cafeteria, with a large part of our packs members watching us.
And the best part is...I don't even care.

Suddenly we hear the people cheer. And I can't help but laugh, causing Romeo to laugh as well. The cheers carried on as we kissed, I step away slowly and smiled.
I look around and some people kept on cheering and whistling. They seemed happy with our relationship, as I searched trough the crowd looking at every face I couldn't see one that wasn't smiling our showing is support in some way. I see Nadia and she has a grin from ear to ear. She was in the yellow team so she didn't win, but from what I had saw she had gain some major skills. I was proud of her.
Romeo and I sat down. I still couldn't believe that our relationship had been accepted so easily. Both we both know that these people here only consisted on a small part of our pack. The real challenge arrives tomorrow.
"Romeo?" I call out to him. He immediately turns to me. "Yes, love?"
"I decided to talk to my father tomorrow. About us." I tell him. His smiled and relaxed pose disappeared the second I finish speaking those words.
"Are you sure now is the right time? We still have some time..."
"Graduation is almost here Romeo. The time to act is now. We already have the support of a few of our pack mates. For the last weeks Montague and Capulet actually managed to get along, and I want that Romeo. I want to be able to walk the streets and see both our packs mingling, actually enjoying talking with one another without all this hate surrounding them." I confess
"If you already made up your mind why telling me at all?" he asks a little frustrated
"Because it's both our lives on the line here Romeo. We are not marked and my father isn't the same rational man he used to be, all he thinks about is of finding a new way to take the Montague's down. I need to do this, but I need to know you will be safe when I do."
"There is no way I am letting do this alone. I am coming with you, we will tell him together." he says convincingly
"There is no way he is going to let you stay in the same room as him, much less talk to him." I remind him
"Then we will tell both our parents together" he says "We set up a meeting, our parents and us. We'll tell them there. Together."
"We will be risking our lives" I remind him
"If I can't have you in my life, then I don't want to live Juliet. You are my everything." he confesses
"Don't say that." I tell him caressing his face "I could never live with myself if something happened to you because of me."
"I love you" he says
"And I love you" I tell him back kissing him softly.
After our talk we eat quickly. Casper and Julius had left after our first kiss claiming that they had to check the premises where the challenge was going to be played. I appreciate their attempt to give us some time to ourselves.
After we ate, we lead the teams to the roundez vous point.
We lead them to the football field belonging to our school. We had made some changes to the field, and by changes I mean we added a large yellow carpet in the middle of the field, with two throwing guns at each side.
The losing teams had made their way to the bleachers. They were all excited with the final challenge.
"Welcome back everybody. In case you haven't been paying attention, let me be the first to tell you that this...is the final challenge."
The people cheered.
"As you can see, behind me we have a football field, only we made some slight modifications." I started explaining "The challenge is simple, each team has a side, the goal is to get the ball to the enemy side. It's just your typical American football we all know and love, but of course, it can be that easy right?"
"See that yellow area in the middle of the field? That's what we like to call "The Danger Path""I explain with a teasing smile "And these bad boys over here..." I say showing them the trowing gun "...are the enemy".
"The rules are simple" Romeo intervenes "The first team to cross the path without getting hit and cross the finish line at the other side of the enemy camp wins. If you get hit in the Path, you're out. If you do manage to cross it and get caught by the your adversaries than the game starts all over again. Everybody understands?"
"Who is going to shoot the guns?" someone asks
"Good question!" I respond "I am more than happy to announce that me and Romeo will be the ones shouting the guns."
There were some "uhhss" and "yeahs" in the crowd.
"Now everybody make it worth our while, because we won't go easy on you" I warn them getting excited.
Each team went to their side of the field.
"Hey Montague!" I yelled at Romeo who was standing on the other side of the field next to the other gun. "I bet I can hit more than you do!"
"Oh it's on!" he yells getting ready.
I get ready as well . And when Casper blows the horn I am more than ready. There is no way I am letting him win this bet.
