"I need your help"
Those are the first words that come out of my mouth the second I'm alone in the room with her.
"What troubles you, my child?" Joanna asks looking intrigued and concerned at the same time.
I take a seat in one of the spare armchairs. My body leans forward, I'm sitting at the edge of the seat. I was in a state of great anxiety and I could tell she wanted to talk to me about it but she was giving me the time I needed to start talking.
"As you know my father has planned for me to marry with another Alpha in order to secure an alliance to take down the Montague's." I start saying. Joanna nods her head in encouragement for me to proceed. "Well... it has come to my attention that my father went behind my back and our customs and as already signed a marriage contract in blood."
"Oh my child...you're father as no idea what he as done..." she says
"You know...me and Romeo...we had planned that if our father's didn't agree to our union than we would go away, just the two of us. I had even started making arrangements...now we don't even have that possibility." I admit feeling my heart throb in pain. "We failed"
"Oh darling...giving up is the only failure." Joanna says "What does Romeo think of this? I imagine you have told him."
"I did. Nobody else knows, just us. And now you." I tell her "He doesn't know what else to do. He suggested going to the Alpha King, he is the only one with the power to terminate a blood contract, but I told him no." I say "The journey would take too long and it could be considered an act of treason against our fathers."
"So your only options are to stay and give up your pack by marrying a man that is not your mate, or run with Romeo and spend the rest of your lives looking over your shoulders, always afraid of getting caught." she says "Yes...I can see why you are so troubled."
"It's not just that, I would gladly run with Romeo if it didn't mean leaving my pack at the hands of Dax Denvers. He's a sorry excuse of an Alpha, Goddess knows what he might do if he is the only one in charge." I say "I can't do that to them. They are my pack. Mine to protect."
"And that is why you will make a great Alpha Juliet." she says smiling sweetly "As I said to my brother many moons ago, "A true Alpha is one that gives all of himself to his pack, for they always come first.""
"I decided to tell my father." I confess wanting to let that out of my chest
"Are you sure that is wise my dear?" she asks "I admit we have come a long way but I still don't know if the people are ready to see such a union."
"You're wrong...I see them... everyday it's like a new barrier was breached. Montague's and Capulet's for the first time in decades are finally starting to come together." I tell her happy of our accomplishments "My only fear is that things might change once our fathers arrive."
"I'm going to tell my father, it's the only thing that I can do now, that and pray. Pray for the Moon Goddess to help me make my father understand." I say
"I feel is my duty as your family to warn you that if things don't go the way you want, I don't believe your father would place the same punishment I received on you. Our circumstances although familiar are not quite the same." she explains
"I know" I say running my hand trough the juncture where shoulder met the neck, the place where a werewolf marks his mate. "I don't have the mark."
"And that means Romeo might be in great danger. This is something to think about very carefully Juliet. Discuss it with him, and make that decision together."
