Chapter 25

I wake up feeling warm.

I snuggle closer to the source of that warm, enjoying the feeling of comfort it provided me. I sight happily and rearrange my pillow so I'm more comfortable. Still feeling sleepy I hug another pillow, it was only when I started drifting to sleep again that it finally came to my attention that my pillow was hairy and it moved.

I open my eyes instantly, sleep forgotten and finally take a look at what it was that I was hugging or more accurately, who I was hugging. I raise my head and take a peek at the man sleeping soundly next to me. His back was turn to me but I was still able to recognize him. What was Romeo doing in my bed? And more important, why was he half naked?

"I was wondering when you would wake up" I hear someone say surprising me completely. I turn to look at him.

"You almost gave me a heart attack Cas" I whisper not wanting to wake up Romeo.

"Sorry" he says smiling. Carefully I remove my arm around Romeo and try sitting on the bed. He didn't woke up through any of it, only turned to snuggle into me as if missing my touch already. I smile at his gesture and I run my fingers through his hair soothingly. We didn't have many opportunities to be this relaxed with one another, unafraid of getting caught.

"Why is he on my bed?" I ask him, not that I was complaining but we've been keeping a low profile since the beginning of our relationship so this was a little out of character.

"After we found you at the border of the territory you were brought here for an emergency surgery, we couldn't bring you to the local hospital, there were too many humans there and we needed to be in a safe environment, besides you heal better when you are surrounded by pack."

I nod agreeing with his course of action. My shoulder didn't hurt as badly as before, even though it was still a little tender, but I could work with that.

"He came in soon after you arrived" he said gesturing to Romeo "He somehow knew that something had happened to you, he begged to enter the territory, I figured you wouldn't oppose."

I shake my head, no, I would have definitely not oppose to his presence here.

"Go on" I incentive him "I know something else must have happened"

"We don't know how or when, but after Romeo visit you the first time he was injected with silver." he revealed. I tense up immediately, Romeo? Poisoned? How? And more importantly, who? We were in Capulet's Pack territory, who would dare poison him in my pack? "I know what is going through your mind right now, rest assure that I have already taken measures to ensure your safety and to discover the culprit."

"Our safety?" I ask still too dazed with what he had just told me, and the drugs in my system where exactly helping me think.

"Juliet..." he says seriously "This was an assassination attempt" he reveals "On both of you"

He then proceeds to tell me the conclusions they had came up with. And unfortunately everything that he told me actually added up. If they were right, which I believe they were, then we were in much more danger than we first realized. I look at Romeo, contemplating his sleeping face, he looked so relaxed as he slept. And to think I was so close to loosing him and I hadn't even realized it.

"You know..." Cas speaks "you two are much more connected then you let on"

"What do you mean?" I ask confused

"When the silver reached his heart, it was like it was happening to you too. You both started convulsing, the doctors thought that neither of you were going to make it."

"They did?" I asked surprised

"I didn't know exactly what was happening but I knew that somehow if one of you stabilized then the other would soon follow. It was a big risk but fortunately it paid off" he confesses
