Ruby did not promise too much, the food was perfect, Alex never had a burger like that. But in fact anything would have been perfect as long as he would have shared it with her. They talked the whole time and he felt how he was more and more falling for her.

She was like a big secret, a riddle that he wanted to solve.

He knew that of course this would not get an easy task, not at all, but he was more than willing to take this challenge.

They finished their dinner but kept sitting in their small booth, away from the hectic world outside.

She discovered that it was the right decision to 'ask' him out. She was glad that he ame and she was even happy how this date was turning out. Of course she noticed that he was flirting with her, but it was not in this pushy and stupid way. He was simply charming and nice, treating her like there would be nothing in this world he would rather want to do than sitting there with her, talking about god knows what and drinking cold beer.

And something in the way he looked at her and formed this beautiful smile, a smile that made her feel like it was only ment for her, that he never smiled at anyone like that, made her feel good.

It got later and later and soon they sat there for some hours and it felt like they could keep sitting there for the rest of their lives.

The topic of the arctic monkey has still not been mentioned and actually Alex kinda forgot that he was in a band. He only concentraited on her, on the words that left her mouth, how her lips formed this special smile towards him and on the sound of her laugh. He could never get enough of this woman. She was smart and had her own mind, she was pure and not influenced by anything or anyone. She would not try to fit in any stereotype and she gave a fuck about what people might think of her. He wished he could have some spark of her magic in his life.

She was not giving in to him that easy or soon, she wanted to know how much he really wanted to get to know her for real, but she could not deny the feeling that this could become something. Something beautiful.

The waiter came back to tell them that they will close soon because they would have to prepare something for the next day. Alex paid the bill and she did not even restist.

The funny thing was that he paid with the money he had stuffed into his pocket and he actually pretty much forgot about his wallet again.

They stood up and before Ruby could put on her jaket Alex was allready behind her to carefully helping her into it.

She thanked him quietly and watched him as he got his on as well.

As they walked out the pub they realised that it was actually empty and they the last ones.

He held the door open for her and so they stepped out on the dark street into the cold night. It was not raining, but the streets were still wet and it was freezing cold.

She stopped and got out a cigarett, he did the same.

"Shit...forgot my lighter" she mumbled the cigarett between her lips but she allready heared the click of his lighter and soon the warm light was in front of her. She smiled and light her cigarett. He did the same with his and kept watching her. Both smoked in silence, not really sure what to say and actually they did not really need words to feel comfortable.

He couldn't take his eyes off her she had to smile when she saw the look on his face, because he looked like he would be watching porn or something.

 "Alexander.."

 - "Mhm.."

 "You gonna burn yourself quiff-boy"

"Wha- oh" he suddenly saw that his cigarett would burn his skin with the ash falling from it because he hadn't smoked and it simply kept on glimming and he hadn't snipped away the ash.  He quickly did so and was pretty glad about the darkness to hide away his blushing. Alex smoked the rest and so did Ruby, both smiling to theriselves and as soon as she also finished she looked at him. He was not the tallest and with her boots on she was just as tall as he was. She stood closer than it was needed and she felt that he was enjoing to be so near to her without the table separating them.

Somewhere a clock announced that it was midnight and Alex actually feared that it could become the time to say bye.

He only hoped that it would not stay the lst time of meeting her, because now he only got more curious and keen on really getting to know her.

 "So...it's midnight..."

"And...do you think this evening was worth giving me back what I lost?" he asked, it seemed like he gained way more self confidence during the evening.

She smiled at him with this special smile that you find maybe twice or three times in your whole life.

"Who says this evening is over yet?" she answered quietly.
