You're so dark (an Alex Turner fanfic)

on the road

As soon as they sat in the car and drove back to London it started raining. They were not really in the mood to talk during the drive, both still tired and in their thoughts. First they let the comfortable silence stay, one thing about Ruby that Alex loved so much, she did not need words all the time, she was happy to just stay quiet if they are not needed and enjoyed the silence, like him.

"Music?" she asked after some time and he nodded and smiled, quickly looking at her. She searched in her bag and found what she wanted, an Oasis CD, she put it into the player and it started playing, not too loud, but it was nice to have some music.

"This week was really what we needed!" he said after 'champain supernova' and she noded and smiled as he put one hand from the steering wheel and on her thight. She put her' s on his and took it softly away from her leg, lifted it to her lips and whispered a kiss on his knuckles before putting it back on the steering wheel.

 Alex smiled and kept on concentrating. He had to drive slow because of the heavy rain and it seemed as even that they left early it would get a long day in the car.

 "It was...it was perfect" she answered and gave him a quick peck on his cheek.

 "I only hope we won't get stuck in some traffic today.." he said but half an hour later they allready stood on the motorway, the rain still pourring down.

 He had even switched the engine off because it was clear that they would have to stay there for longer.

 Alex sighed and laid his forehead against the wheel and closed his eyes.

 Ruby stroke softly through his hair and gave him a kiss on his neck, she knew that Alex hated driving in the car, he loved his motorbike, but he felt trapped in the car. 

They heared the sound of an ambulance behind them, getting near and he quickly turned on the car again and moved it to the side of the road, like all the other drivers so a way for the ambulance car would be clear. "I  hope it's not a really bad crash..." she mumbled and looked at the blue lights of the ambulance that passed them and got reflected by the raindrops on the windows.

 Alex looked at her, he knew she was thinking of the accident her parents had died in. He softly took her hand and squeezed it softly.

 "Me too" he said and put his hand on her thight, she smiled again a little and gave him a soft kiss on his lips "Alexander?"

 "Yes love"

 "I...I hope you know how thankful I am for...everything you allways do for me...I mean...no one ever-"

 But she was cut off by the following kiss.

 "Rubina, I love you with all my heart, and I want you to be happy, I would do everything to achieve that."

 "You make me happy" she whispered and looked at his lips that formed his beautiful smile, an honest smile.

 "And so do you, lil' pumpkin" he answered and the smile he earned in return could have made all the clouds and rain outside vanish immediately.

Alex stood, leaning against his car on the parkingslot and took deep breaths of the cold and fresh air that got cleaned by the rain that had stopped. The trafficjam was pretty long, they stood in there for nearly two hours, so he took the first exit to a service station, there they had even a Starbucks and Ruby told him she would go get them some things. Alex looked so tired she thought, he needed coffee and chocolate she decided and so bought a huge amount of sweets in the shop, together with his favourite cigaretts and some drinks before she went into the small Starbucks. She ordered a huge dark coffee for Alex and a Vanilla Latte for herself, because she was simply addicted to this stuff. She also bought a huge chocolate muffin for her man.

 She knew herself she had probably bought way too much, but she simply wanted him to feel better. This long distance car driving exhausted him every time, especially if he was driving.

She had the small plastic bag from the shop and the two paper cups with the hot liquid, one in each hand and was walking outside. Alex still stood beside the car, he wasn't smoking, he waited for her to come back.

 She felt that his mood changed from the evening before, he was quieter and seemed sad. She knew he really had enough of London and people digging in his life. He just wanted the people to enjoy the music he and the others were making. Sometimes she wondered if he could go back in time, knowing what the price for the fame was, if he would do the same with starting the arctic monkeys.

 But she also knew this mood was a phase-thing. All he needed was her attention and love, cuddle, cigaretts, some chocolate and sex to bring other thoughts into his pretty head, and she was just ready to give him all of that.

Alex saw her walking towards him and he felt better in  the matter of seconds. His face brightened up when he saw all the stuff she had bought and when she gave him his cup of coffee with a kiss on his lips.

 "You know I can also driv eif you want some rest...I know you havn't slept that well...and maybe you'll feel better after a nap.." she said while leaning next to him against the black car.

 He took a sip of the coffee and thankfully took the cigarett she had lightened for him.

 She was right, he wasn't really fit, maybe it was a good idea to let her drive for an hour or so, because they still had a pretty long way to go.

 He noded "Ok...but you'll wake me when you want to change again, ok?"

 She rouffled through his hair "Ok mommy-Alex" she said smiling and gave him the still warm muffing she bought.

 "And when was the last time I told you that you're an angel?" he said sounding tired but happier than before.

 She smiled and leaned against his side, her head resting on his shoulder while she also smoked.

 "Do we have to pick up Heisenberg on the way?"

 She shoke her head slightly "Jak will bring him tomorrow...probably when I'm at work and before you leave for this meeting."

 "I like him...he's a good guy.." Alex said and then smiled and laughed quietly "Do you remember how he woke us up the morning after we've been out and somehow endet up falling asleep drunk on your floor? When he told you who I actually am"

 Ruby also smiled "Indeed I remember. He also likes you. I'm glad about that...I mean my two favourite humans like each other, that's great!"

 Alex laughed by her choice of words and put one arm around her shoulders.

 She just allways managed to get him into a good mood and he would not want to imagine where he would be if he hadn't met her.

 "And I also remember you stealing my wallet" he said teasing and got her tongue sticked out.

 "Well you have no reason to complain...I gave it back...and got a boyfriend in return" she answered smiling and looked up into his brown eyes, he noded and stroke over her cheek

 "And I got the most beautiful, talented, unique and simply perfect woman" he said and got a small poke into his side from her, together with a long kiss.

 "Stop being so cute, Turner" she whispered against his lips.

 "Never" was hi simple answer
