You're so dark (an Alex Turner fanfic)

first shock

Alex came home with the groceries and put them down on his kitchencounter. He heared that Ruby was sitting on the balcony together with Alice, chattering and probably drinking coffee.

 Heisenberg greeted him and stroke along his legs, needy for some stroking that Alex was just happy to give him. He really liked this cat, even though he prefered dogs as a pet, but having this fur-ball around in his flat was actually pretty great. And he knew Ruby like it to have him around and probably in his bed when he was away for some days.

 When Alex had given Heisenberg some mild into his bowl he had a look at the kitchentable, where Ruby allways put the mail when she got it after work. Nothing important, some bills, a letter from his mum, she hated writing e-mails and actually Alex liked getting some real hand-written letters.

 He flicked through some magazines that were also on the pile until something caught his attention, a box on the table, he saw that it couldn't be ment for Ruby, because it was so small, but she was the one who must have baught it.

 A strange thought came to his mind and we was simply too curious and opened it, what he saw made his mind go nuts and his heart stop for a second. Hell, what should that mean now, and before overthinking it he took what was in the box and rushed to the balcony.

"Hey love, why do you look so terryfied?" Ruby asked smiling when Alex opened the door. Alice held a cigarette and wanted to greet him when he showed them what Ruby had obviously bought: A small pair of Doc Martens shoes, obviously baby shoes.

 "Ruby?! What does that mean?!" he asked not quite sure if he was really prepared for the answer.

 Alice looked at Ruby, who took a deep breath and stood up, giving him a smile and taking the small black shoes in her hands and gave him a kiss "How would that sound to you? Daddy Alex"

 Alex's jaws dropped and he simply stared at Ruby, this couldn't be real, it simply couldn't be he thought.

 She held the boots towards her belly and smiled innocent at him.

 "But..." he stopped, he had no idea what to say, damn imaginary spoken he wasn't even out of his own diapers.

 Alex felt like a huge ice bucket was just thrown over him.

 But when Ruby's innocent look turned into a smirk and wide grin, she just couldn't stay serious and started laughing out loud by the look of his face, it was simply priceless, the great rockstar Alex Turner, looking like a dropped puppy. And Alice also lost the fight of pretending a serious face and so both women laughed until nearly loosing their breaths.

 Ruby smirked at him and put her arms around his neck, poking the tip of his nose with her's

 "I'm not pregnant! Of course not! Now imagine me with a child, I would probably break it. But a friend of ours is, and she had invited us to a...yes..let's say baby-party. Don't worry, you won't have to change diapers and breast-fead any time soon Alex" she still smiled and now after the first shock even Alex smirked a little by her joke.

 "I hate you" he whispered and kissed her on her lips.

 Ruby smiled brighter "Hey...you gave me the perfect oportunity!"

 "Yea...got a point for creativity and being a good actress. God...you gave me the shock of my goddamn life!"

 She gave him a peck on his lips and a hug before releasing him and sitting him down at the chair next to Alice, who patted his shoulder and till grinned "She's right, she couldn't have waisted this opportunity, but you storming out here was just great!"

 "Yeah...so funny" he tried to look at least a little grumpy but lost it and couln't hide his own smile over his own reaction.

 "Now who want's some ice cream? I remember there was still some left"

 "Aye, there is, let me-"

 "Stay here, potato, recover from your shock" she said smiling and rouffled through his hair, giving him a peck on his cheek "I'll get everything"

 Ruby left to the kitchen with a huge smile on her face, but she was curious how he would have reacted if she would have continued this game.
