Melissa The Waitress

During breakfast hours, Melissa was working. She walked up to the table she was serving. There was a married couple.

"Good morning, my name's Melissa and I'll be your waitress this morning. Can I get you started with some drinks?"

"Coffee for me please," the man said.

"I'll have the same," the woman said.

"Alright, I'll be back with your coffees."

She walked into the kitchen and poured coffee into two white mugs and grabbed a small bowl and put a handful of small cream and sugar packs. She came back to the table with them.

"Here you go, and packs of cream and sugar to go with it if you want some."

"Well thank you very much!"

"Have you both decided what you want?"

"We will have the cheese and mushroom omelet please."

"Alright then, coming up!"

She took their breakfast menus and walked to the kitchen.

"Yorgo, two cheese and mushroom omelets for table number five!"

"Coming up Melissa!" Yorgo shouted.

As she walked out, she saw Simon sitting at a table. She walked to him.

"Good morning Uncle Simon!"

"Morning Melissa. Just hanging here this morning, Hadley's busy in the lobby and Gwen and Daniel are at school. So, I'm hanging with you in the dining area during breakfast hours."

"Well, we can't talk now, I'm working."

"We're talking right now."

She scoffed.

"Really Uncle Simon? Gosh, would you like a menu?"

"Nah, I would like just a bottle of water, no food right now."

"Ok."

She went to the kitchen to get a bottle of water from the fridge. As soon as she brought it to him, he kissed her on the cheek and left. 

The afternoon came by and Melissa was on break before dinner hours, she was allowed at the bar but she wasn't allowed beverages other than water and soft drinks. She was watching MTV, the music video to a David Bowie song started to come on. She started singing along.

"Caught your mother in a whirl and she's not sure if you're a boy or a girl. Hey babe, your hair's alright! Hey babe, let's go out tonight! You like me and I like it all-"

She was stopped by Daniel running in the bar into her arms.

"Melissa, you gotta help me!"

"Daniel, what's wrong?"

"Bullies!"

As soon as he said that, a small group of older boys ran in. They were as old as Gwen and Melissa. Melissa turned the TV off.

"We found you, you little dweeb!"

"No, get away from me!"

She put him down and got him behind her like a shield.

"If you wanna hurt this little boy, you're gonna have to get passed me first."

"Oh, I'm so scared! You think you're so tough, huh? You don't scare me one bit."

She got an empty beer bottle and smashed it.

"Try me! You just try me! I double dare you!" Melissa said as she pointed it in his face.

He started getting a bit shaky.

"Guy's let's go. We'll get him next time."

They left.

"Not on my watch!" Melissa yelled.

She picked up Daniel and hugged him tight! Hadley walked in.

"What is going on here?"
