A Surprise Guest

Hadley was at the front desk in the lobby. Gwen, Daniel, and Melissa were at school. She was reading a magazine when a young and hot man walked in.

"May I help you?"

"Hello, do you have a room available?"

"We sure do! Welcome to the Metropolitan Hotel. Your last name please?"

"Harris."

She typed his name in the system.

"How long will you be staying?"

"Maybe two or three nights."

"Ok."

Simon walked in the lobby. As soon as he saw the man, he frowned.

"Vincent Harris."

Vincent turned around.

"Simon Ferguson! It's been years!"

Vincent was about to shake his hand but Simon refused to shake it.

"Aw cut the bull crap! I know why you're here? You heard Sarah died and you show your face here and say 'I'm sorry I'm a couple months late to the funeral!"

Simon looked at Hadley.

"Hads, I would like you to meet Vincent Harris, the man who knocked up my sister and then abandoned her like a deformed animal to fend for herself."

Hadley gasped.

"You're Melissa's father!?"

"I'm afraid so," Simon said for him.

"Nice to meet you," Vincent said to Hadley.

"Likewise."

Gwen, Daniel and Melissa walked in the hotel from school.

"Hey kids!" Hadley said.

"Hi Mom!" Gwen and Daniel said.

"How was school?"

"It went fine! Melissa passed her math test!" Gwen said.

"Good job Melissa!" Simon said.

"Woohoo!" Hadley exclaimed.

"Melissa?" Vincent asked her.

"Who is this guy?"

"That man...is your father," Simon said.

"Come give Daddy a hug!" Vincent said holding his arms out.

Melissa stood still for a few seconds while frowning, and walked upstairs to her room leaving her father hanging. Vincent felt sad.

"I don't blame her one bit," Simon said as he walked away.

It was just Vincent and Hadley.

"Here's your key," Hadley said.

"Thank you very much. I'm sorry, that was awkward back there."

"It's ok."

He smiled at her and walked to his room.
