Melissa and Vincent were in the dining room Saturday afternoon having lunch together.
"So, how're you doing in school?"
"I'm doing fine. Other than getting suspended for a month."
"What'd you do?"
"I brought my pocket knife to school. For punishment, I worked here as a waitress. There was this teacher who wouldn't stop giving me special treatment because I'm related to an actor. I wanted to get myself in trouble, but I got more than intended."
"That makes me think of myself in school. I faced expulsion a few times. But not for something like this, you're more dangerous than me."
"Have you been arrested before?"
"Yeah, for driving without insurance. You should get car insurance or else you'd spend a couple days in jail."
She nodded.
"I went to a school rugby game back home, I stole from one of the food people walking around selling that expensive crap, took some food without them looking. Didn't get arrested though."
Vincent laughed.
"Wow, you are a rebel."
He gave her a high five.
"Can we do something together?"
"I guess."
"How about if we spend the night at the Plaza Hotel? I can take you to school Monday morning so bring your backpack."
"Sure. Thanks for lunch Dad."
He smiled.
"You're welcome."
Hadley, Gwen, and Daniel were at the hotel pool. Hadley was watching the kids. Melissa walked in.
"Hi Melissa, how'd it go?"
"It went good, um, Hadley?"
"What?"
"Will you teach me how to swim?"
