Melissa walked in the lobby. Hadley walked out of her office.

"Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve Eve everyone!"

"Good morning!" They said.

Melissa ran to Hadley.

"Hadley, you mind if I go Christmas shopping with you today?"

"Sure! Why?"

"Just because. I love you like a mummy."

Hadley smiled.

"Aww, Melissa!"

She gave Melissa a hug.

"Of course you can come with me. Me and Simon are dating again after twenty years, today's a great time to bond, you and me."

"I agree with you."

Later, they went to the mall to do some shopping. They were in the clothing store.

"Simon needs a pair of loafers."

They were at the shoe aisle.

"The only loafers in stock are black and brown."

"Well, the black ones go good with his kimono robe but the brown ones look more comfortable."

"I think the black ones suit him better."

"Oh come on Hadley, it doesn't matter the color, comfort and how long it will last is what matters."

"Melissa, you're right, you're absolutely right. It doesn't matter."

"You know what I hate about my own sex? 'Oh my God, I like your purse! It looks so good with your outfit! Oh. My. God.' 'Melissa, I love your rocker outfit, so cliché, it matches your personality, totally girl, totally!"

Melissa was imitating a snobbish girl. Hadley couldn't help but crack a smile.

"You remind me of your Uncle Simon. I remember the time Daniel had a school report to do, Gwen said to it on Frankistan, then she said Bankistan. After a minute, Daniel asked us what it was next to, you know what Simon said?"

"What?"

"East Tylenol."

Melissa shook her head and smiled.

"That's Simon for you Hadley."

Then, a woman walked to them.

"Hadley!"

"Debby!"

It was Debby Hampstead.

"Hadley, good to see you again. How's everybody doing?"

"Everyone's fine."

"You mind introducing me to this young lady?"

"No, not at all. This is Melissa. You know Simon Ferguson?"

"How could I forget?"

"This is his niece."

"Oh."

Melissa held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you."

"You too. Well, my husband is waiting. I better go. It was nice seeing you again Hadley."

"You too Debby."

Debby walked away.

"Who was that?" Melissa asked.

"That is Debby Hampstead. Her son goes to school with Daniel. They were competing against each other at a spelling bee. They raised him to think he's better than everybody. He accused Daniel of cheating because he couldn't spell a word or two during practice. A kid court trail solved the case, turned out Simon stole a spelling list during the parent meeting prior."

"That bitch," Melissa said to herself.

"Melissa language."

"Sorry."

"You're right though."

They continued shopping.
