"Daniel! Where did you get that puppy?"
"I found it outside. It's so dirty...and cute, I couldn't help it."
"That's a cute puppy but what if it's mummy and it's siblings are trying to find it?"
"I'm sorry, New York is dangerous especially when you're a stray animal in the cold. The puppy was alone."
Melissa felt sorry for the poor puppy.
"I don't think this hotel's pet friendly."
"I don't care, it's December! It's freezing!"
"You know their fur keeps them warm."
Daniel shook his head.
"Alright, we'll go to my bathroom and give it a bath."
Daniel gave her the puppy.
"Oh my goodness. She's so precious!"
"It's a girl?"
"Yep! She's so cute."
"What're we gonna name her? How about Gwen!?"
"That's your sister's name! I've always wanted a dog, can we name her Lucy?"
"Sure."
"Yes! I've always wanted a girl dog named Lucy."
Daniel was ok with Lucy.
Hadley walked out of her office. Simon saw her as he walked downstairs.
"Hello Hads! Would you like to have dinner with me tonight at this top fancy restaurant?"
"Simon, we were over twenty years ago and I want it to stay that way."
"Please Hadley? For old times' sake?"
"Last time you said that, I woke up in exotic clothing and handcuffed to a blender."
Melissa and Daniel were sneaking through the lobby.
"Oh come on Hadley! We could go as friends, plus I already made the reservations, we might as well go."
"Alright, fine! We'll go, as friends, nothing more."
Simon nodded.
"Freeze right there," Hadley said.
Hadley walked to them.
"What have you got in your jacket Daniel?"
"Your Christmas gift!" Melissa said.
"Me and Melissa picked it out together. From me to my beautiful mommy!"
Hadley smiled.
"Aww Daniel. I love you so much. Carry on!"
They went upstairs to Melissa's room.
"That was close," Daniel said.
Then, there was a knock.
As Daniel hid the puppy in the bathroom, Melissa answered the door. It was Simon!
"Alright, what's going on?"
"Nothing, just a present-"
"Cut the crap young lady, Daniel, come in here with what you snuck up here!"
Daniel walked out with Lucy.
"A dog?"
"Yes Simon, I found her outside in the cold, alone and dirty."
"You know it isn't a pet friendly hotel, I'm gonna report this to your mother!"
"Uncle Simon, don't tell Hadley, please?"
Melissa held Lucy.
"Look at the puppy, she's too cute not to leave out in the December streets of New York. Just look at the poor sweet little puppy!"
"This isn't going to work but thank you for playing."
"Come on Uncle Simon, hold her for a minute."
Melissa gave Simon Lucy and he held her. Lucy started to lick his cheek.
"Aww, she's giving you puppy kisses!"
Simon smiled and started petting Lucy.
"Aww, alright, I won't tell her. But, she's bound to find out sometime."
"Ok. Uncle Simon, meet Lucy."
"Already named her huh?"
She nodded.
