"God Alex why didn't we build this in the beginning?" Jen said frustrated.
Today was the day of my first baby shower. Jen being Jen decided she wanted it to be at her house.
At the moment both of us girls were trying to build the crib.
"Where are the instructions?" I asked annoyed. Jen insists on doing stuff her way which is a pain in the ass.
"I don't know. Besides we don't need them." "Oh my gosh Jen yes we do!" I said frustrated. "Just take a break, I'll figure something out." She heaved.
I plopped down on the couch and looked around. Barely any progress was made. I mean yeah we got all the streamers set up and some balloons set up, but we don't even have the games set up and the food.
I groaned throwing my head back.
"Look can't we just call Ryder-" "No! Absolutely not. I want to do this by myself." "Oh well too bad." I countered back.
"God you're such a bitch." "Oh bite me." I said finding Ryder's contact.
Not even two rings later he answered.
"Hey everything alright?"
"We need your help." I stated flatly.
"With?"
"The crib. Come over now." I demanded.
"On it. Love you baby."
I smiled. "Ditto."
I hung up the phone and smiled.
"God you're so demanding I can't see how he's with you." I laughed out loud and nodded. "I guess I'm giving good sex?" "Wait you mean you can still shag?" I nodded my head laughing.
"Jeez." She said shaking her head.
I tried getting up off the couch but was struggling a little bit." "Little help here." I said sinking back into the couch."
Jen rolled her eyes and mumbled how much of a lazy ass I am. I rolled my eyes going into the kitchen.
"Lunch already?"
"No for the guests remember?"
"Oh yeah huh?" She said digging into the chips.
"Jen." I said swatting her hand away.
"What can you blame a girl?"
I rolled my eyes cutting up fruits for the food platters.
"So tell me? Who's house is the baby going to be in." I shrugged not sure. "Alex you've only got three months left, better start planning now." "Well I mean I don't know, Ryder and I have been talking lately about one of us moving in to each other's house." "Alex isn't a little too soon though." "Jen should you should have been saying this like hmmm six months ago?" "Yeah but I mean; moving in?" I shrugged. "I mean I'm already conceiving our child why not get help taking care of him together?" She sighed. "God this is still crazy to me you know?" I agreed.
"Who knew my little Alex would be a soon to be mommy?" I laughed. "And how much of a great mom she'll be." I heard a voice state. I turned around and saw Ryder stepping in the kitchen. He knocked on the wall. "Knock knock. Here to set up a crib?" "The stupid thing is in the living room." Jen said pointing.
*+*+*+*+*
"Try not to have too much fun yeah?" Ryder said kissing my lips. I giggled and nodded. "Try to not get into arguments with my brothers?" "Course." He pecked my lips and I shut his door. I stepped back and watched him pull out of the driveway.
I started walking away back inside but heard the truck jerk into a stop. I turned around and saw Ryder pacing back to me.
"Forgot one thing." I stared at him for a few moments but saw him bending down.
"Try not to kick mommy so much today." He said patting my belly. He kissed it and smiled up at me.
"Love you." I blushed looking around to see if our moms were anywhere.
"Love you too." I said pecking his cheek.
I turned around and walked back inside the house.
Both Ryder's and I's mothers were staring at me with a knowing smile.
"What?" "Ah nothing, just looking at young love." My mom said in a sing song voice. I rolled my eyes but still wore my cheesy smile.
"So when are the guests arriving?" Jen questioned walking down the steps of her house.
"They should be arriving in thirty minutes." Ryder's mom said fixing the flowers that Ryder brought over.
Everything was all set up now. We have a place for where the diapers go. A place for the presents, place where all the games are set up, and a place for me to sit my big bottom.
I'd have to say, with all the help from everyone who contributed we did a great job.
Ryder's mom started walking down the steps to livingroom and sighed.
"Nervous for today?" I shrugged. To be honest I am for meeting the rest of the ladies in Ryder's family. Would they like me? Would they look down at me for the age that I am? All these thoughts kept buzzing in my head that that's all I could think about.
"Alex-" "Sorry what?" "I said relax. Don't stress over today. Just relax and smile for the cameras."
Just play it calm and cool...
