Friends
"This island is just too weird for me, despite its high technology. I'm still confused about its true purpose," I said to Simon as we ate pancakes. My gaze wandered to the window where I spotted numerous scientists passing by once more.
"Are they trying to create new inventions?" Simon glanced up, nodding in agreement.
"I'm confused too. How did you find this place, Simon?" I asked, taking a sip of my chocolate juice.
"They sent me a request on my computer while I was searching for a school to further my training. When I checked it out, it met my standards. I read a lot of feedback and knew their teaching methods were advanced. So, I enrolled without hesitation. What about you?"
"I found a letter under my bed from Mom, saying I should train here. Even though I was reluctant to take training here, I followed my parents' wishes. They didn't mention anything that could endanger their child." I looked at Simon, who was busy searching for marshmallows.
His high temple fade with spiky textured hair caught my eye. He had brown eyes and cute lips.
He resembled Leonardo DiCaprio.
"Oh—forgot. I read about someone inventing a time machine. An Iranian scientist claimed to have invented the Aryayek Time-Traveling Machine, or so he says. According to today's Telegraph, 27-year-old Ali Razeghi claims his invention can take you eight years into the future, so you can see how that surgery you've been longing for turns out." I raised an eyebrow.
"Impossible. I need proof."
As I was about to take another bite, a robot approached us again.
It was the rooster robot that took our picture without permission. It opened its mouth and stared at us.
"Don't be rude, Camael. Smile." I reluctantly smiled. I knew Simon didn't want me to scare off the robots approaching us.
"Smile!" I smiled, and so did Simon.
Even now, many questions about this island continue to fill my mind. I still can't believe everything that's happening and the strange things I'm seeing.
"That's a rooster robot. They can fetch documents, take pictures, and record videos using their mouth or flash their eyes, but I hate those robots... they're too annoying." I just laughed at him. He was really talkative, so being with Montrearde was never boring.
"Who created Raya?" Sometimes I wonder why they keep making robots. I don't know why I'm so curious about everything around me on this island.
"I was the one who repaired her. I found her in the island's storage. I immediately liked her small size. I decided to transform her into a big dragon that can accompany me. She's my princess, in a way. She may be a robot, but to me, she's like my kitten." How sweet. I couldn't stop chuckling as Simon talked about his dragon robot.
"How long did it take you to repair her?"
"Five weeks after I arrived here." My eyes widened. He's legendary. Who could repair a robot in just five days? I furrowed my brows before taking a sip of my juice.
"What course are you taking?"
"I plan to become a psychologist. How about you?"
"I need to get a bachelor's degree. The first educational step to becoming a biological scientist is to obtain a 4-year bachelor's degree in biology. Aspiring biological scientists take classes in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science." What the heck?
I stared at him, blinking repeatedly as he pretended to drink his newly ordered shake. Isn't he struggling with the course he chose? If I were in his shoes, I'd definitely feel overwhelmed.
