"What's wrong with you?"

"I didn't do anything!"

"You're always smiling!"

Simon and I have been arguing for a while now. I don't know why he's picking a fight with me. I just want to throw a chair at him for being so moody. I glared at him while he stared back at me.

"You have an exam on Friday. Do you need help? I can tutor you, after all, I'm also pretty smart." Arrogant. It's tempting to strangle him.

"Talk to the hand."

We were currently walking towards my room. It's ironic how I can still manage to smile despite everything happening on this island. I crossed my arms, smiling, while looking at Simon.

He turned away from me and gazed outside.

"You know, Wise? You have to pretend that everything's fine even though things are falling apart."

That's true. Despite everything happening on this island, we need to pretend everything's okay because if we let negativity take over our minds, we might not focus on our mission.

If all we think about is failure, we won't gain anything. We need to have hope that everything will be okay. Hope that one day, we'll all be able to leave this island and live peacefully.

We need to pretend we'll defeat our enemies even though we're not sure. Everything will be fine. For now, we'll pretend everything's okay, but I know one day, it'll be true.

"Can I just rest... for a while? I'm trying to be okay, Montrearde. I'm doing my best to act like everything's going to be okay even though... I don't really know what will happen. I'm not sure about what's going to happen," his smile slipped as he observed my facial expression.

"To be honest, I'm hurting for people like me who came to this school to study and get a diploma, but what's happening? They're depriving people of their right to be human! They killed them in the worst way! They're so evil."

"Camael..."

"I can't believe they planned all this just to satisfy their needs. They're so cruel. It saddens me that some of these evil people are the smartest. They're smart, but why didn't they think about others? They should've used their brains! Every human deserves freedom, not this kind of slavery! It's pure torture for them. They're human! They're humans, but they turned them into robots!" Simon caressed my hand, trying to calm me down. He lifted my chin, making me face him, staring into my eyes that were now burning with anger.

"You're strong, brave, and fearless. You're not afraid of fear; fear is afraid of you," he repeatedly combed through my hair while I stared at him. I couldn't speak.

"They're cruel, Camael. That's why we're here, to stop their evil plans. We're here to help those who need us, Wise. Remember what I told you? Never let your emotions control you. I know you're angry... just like I was before, but letting that anger control you will only hurt you. Don't let it treat you like a toy; instead... think, Wise."

"They took away their rights, Simon. It's not right... it never will be. I'm really angry right now... but as you said, I need to calm down. I-I just can't accept that those who turned into robots can't go back to being human again. I'm hurting for them. Those who turned into robots... they were supposed to finish their studies, have fun outside this island, and grow old with loved ones, but those evil people killed their dreams, their goals... they killed them."

We fell silent for a moment. I let go of his grip on my hair and walked away from him. I shouldn't have brought up that topic.

I jumped onto the bed. I grabbed all of my books. I glanced at him because he suddenly seemed to be silent. In a matter of minutes, I found myself talking to Simon again. I smiled before answering each question he threw at me.
