Hurt

After putting my children to sleep, I went downstairs to the living room where Janus and the others were gathered.

I sighed as I recalled what I had heard from them. They all looked up at me as I walked down the stairs. Once I sat down, I didn't hesitate to address what I had heard.

"They're alive." No one responded immediately. I gave them enough time to think, to gather their thoughts. I allowed them the chance to tell me everything I needed to know.

"One question, one answer. Are they alive?" Janus nodded. I closed my eyes, smiling. Thank goodness they survived. My family was alive.

I bet Simon's alive too.

"Rylea, Wiliana? Please watch over my children. I need to see my parents and, of course, Simon."

I quickly grabbed Janus's car keys from the side of the TV. I ran outside, hearing them shout my name, but I didn't care.

"See you soon, love."

I drove to the hospital, tears streaming down my face as I did. I was overwhelmed with happiness that they were alive!

I don't think anything could match the joy I felt right now! All the pain I had endured was worth it! When I arrived, I hurriedly approached the nurse.

"Room of Wise?" The nurse checked her list and quickly gave me the room number.

"Room of Montrearde?"

"There's no Montrearde listed, Ma'am."

"What do you mean? Simon Montrearde is the name." She shook her head, causing my brow to furrow.

I took the elevator to the 17th floor. I was still puzzled as to why there was no Simon Montrearde listed. Was he at another hospital?

When the elevator dinged to signal its arrival, I rushed out. I ran towards the room, and when I opened the door, I saw my parents.

No Simon in the room.

"Camael!" Mom cried out.

I quickly ran to her, hugging her tightly. I had missed my mother so much. It had been a long time since I felt the warmth of her embrace.

I just savored her hug. This was my safe zone, where nothing could compare to a mother's care.

"M-Mom, you're alive! You're really alive! Thank God!" She kissed my forehead as I held her close.

"Darling, Mommy's alive. I'm alive... okay? Mommy's here now. I'm sorry... my child, I'll make it up to you. I'll make up for all the times I failed as a mother. Just let me... I'm so sorry for leaving you." I responded by hugging her tighter.

I then looked at Dad and ran towards him. I embraced him as tightly as a daughter needs her father's reassuring hug.

"C-Camael?" I cried into my father's arms.

It had been such a long time since I had lost them. Now, they were here with me. I was finally in the embrace of my home, which was my family. When I pulled away from the hug, I looked around.

"Mom, where's Simon?" I asked them. They didn't answer, only tears flowed from them. At that moment, Janus walked in. I didn't pay him any attention.

"He's gone."

Two words that shattered my heart into pieces.

Hearing those words tore me apart. They were certain, but I couldn't accept it. I couldn't bear the thought of waking up one more day knowing that the man I love is truly gone.
