Cook
"A piece of cake?!" I teased him while throwing pillows. A piece of cake? What if he dies? Will he say it's just a piece of cake?
I don't know what the hell was happening with me. I just suddenly found myself caring about him. Maybe it's because he's my friend, or I trust him?
"Camael, you still don't know me." He returned the pillows and sat beside me. I just stared at him as he continued talking. I couldn't help but feel guilty for not knowing the reason.
"My mom died because of us... she was also an agent, but before she died... she gave birth to us... we're triplets. I'm so proud of my mother for being so strong." His eyes welled up before giving me a fake smile.
I noticed that Simon is quite transparent. I can read his emotions now because his eyes look so sad.
"You'll know what he feels by just looking directly into his eyes."
"For me, the strongest woman was my mother. She did everything just for us. She taught me how to be tough despite all the problems. She lived strong and died strong. Well, that's my mother. I'm so proud of her." He looked at me with his sad eyes. I didn't know what to say. I just felt sad for him; we're both on the same path of not growing up with our mother.
I couldn't speak and just kept staring at him.
"When I first discovered how this island operates, I was furious with the idiots running it. I wanted to kill them with my own hands, but that's not what Dad taught us. He always reminded us never to take the law into our own hands. I didn't like it when I found out everything. Dad told me everything about the disgusting things this island does, and at first, I admit... I wanted to escape the mission I got into, but then I remembered that I'm a Montrearde. We're known for being fearless."
"What's your mother's name?"
"Pandora Salvians, but Salvians wasn't her real surname... it was just her fake identity. Her real surname is Tesla. That's why I'm Simon Tesla Montrearde." He grinned while looking at me. Is this how strong he is? He's too brave to be an agent.
"And you are?" I knew he knew me, but I didn't hesitate to say my full name.
"Camael Einstein Wise..."
"Nice name, huh?"
He stood up and headed to the kitchen. I thought he would continue talking to me, but I was surprised when he suddenly started rummaging through my kitchen materials. He took off his t-shirt and began chopping vegetables.
"What are you doing?"
"Going to cook. I know you're hungry. The best way to a woman's heart is through her stomach." Yeah, right.
"That's for men." I just watched him, admiring how smooth he moved. I thought Simon only knew how to fight or be smart in science. Now I know he's also good at cooking.
It's as if he's a living cooking machine with how fast and precise he moves. I wondered why he's so good at cooking. I'm not even a master in the kitchen.
"Where did you learn to cook?"
"Experimentation. I often mess around in the kitchen at home. We're all boys. There's no nanny to cook for us every day. I volunteered to be the chef. If I didn't learn, we'd surely die of hunger or rely on daily orders from the most expensive restaurants in different countries. My brothers are a handful... especially Daddy. When they're hungry, they even order from far-off countries." He put the pan on the stove. I furrowed my brow at what he said. They're rich, huh? Just because they're bored or hungry, they'll order food from whatever country they want? The Montrearde family is indeed different.
