Weapons
"A weapon, arm, or armament is any device that can be used with intent to inflict damage or harm. Weapons are used to increase the efficacy and efficiency of activities such as hunting, crime, law enforcement, self-defense, and warfare. In a broader context, weapons may be construed to include anything used to gain a tactical, strategic, material, or mental advantage over an adversary or enemy target..."
I could only stare at Montrearde as he handled several weapons we could use.
"While ordinary objects such as sticks, stones, cars, or pencils can be used as weapons, many are expressly designed for the purpose - ranging from simple implements like clubs, swords, and axes to complex modern intercontinental ballistic missiles, biological weapons, and cyberweapons. Something repurposed, converted, or enhanced to become a weapon of war is termed weaponized, such as a weaponized virus and lasers..."
He pointed out other tools, catching my eye. It was impressive. I couldn't believe I would be able to use these. He gestured with his hand, prompting me to follow him.
I saw him pointing to some weapons.
"These are personal weapons or small arms designed to be used by a single person."
"Light weapons are portable weapons that may require a small team to operate."
"Heavy weapons like artillery and similar weapons are larger than light weapons..." He handed one to me, and I felt its weight.
I continued to listen to him.
"In order to learn, you must listen first."
"Wait... are those hunting weapons?" I quickly grabbed the bow. He placed down the bottle. I smiled when I got the hang of it.
"These are used by hunters for sport or obtaining food," I explained further. He returned my smile while his hand was in his pocket.
"Crew-served weapons are larger than personal weapons, requiring two or more people to operate correctly." I raised my hands as a sign that I understood what he was saying.
"These weapons are going to be a big help for us."
"Fortification weapons are installed in a permanent installation or primarily used within a fortification..." I nodded along as I listened to what he was saying. I just looked at him while he explained.
"And these are railway weapons designed to be mounted on railway cars, including armored trains... whereas these are aircraft weapons carried and used by some type of aircraft, helicopter, or other aerial vehicle." I handled the other weapons. I couldn't wait to practice using them.
I really don't want to use any kind of weapons, but if I need to use them to save people, it's fine. It's not like we're fighting normal people, but robots, so we shouldn't hesitate to use them.
I have trauma from using weapons since I saw it when I was a child. I just remember that in my memory until now, I still don't know who was shot and shot. So since then, I told myself that I wouldn't use weapons because weapons are made to kill a person.
I was just there, beside him. I lost my focus on what he was saying. He stared at me, making sure to maintain our eye contact as if it could bring me back from Earth to Camael. I closed my eyes before focusing back, trying to absorb all the details in one snap.
"Am I too fast? Just tell me... so you can keep up. I know that you're not familiar with the other weapons, but you have to memorize them so you'll know when you will be using them," he continued talking, and so I listened to him.
"Naval weapons are mounted on ships and submarines... and these are space weapons designed to be used in or launched from space."
"And lastly, autonomous weapons are capable of accomplishing a mission with limited or no human intervention." He faced me. He smiled.
