Depressed

In my situation, I should probably be very sad, but I'm not.

I know there's still someone out there who truly loves me. I have friends who help and take care of me. Given my situation, it's incredibly hard because I no longer have my parents and my baby doesn't yet have a father. Therefore, I need to stay strong for my baby.

"I'm not depressed!" I rolled my eyes. They've been insisting that I'm depressed, but I'm not.

I feel sad, but I'm not depressed.

"Are you sure?"

"You've been asking that many times, Janus! Don't you trust me? I'm a freaking psychologist!"

I smiled when I said that. Once I get out of this hospital, I'll rest a bit and then start working as a psychologist.

That was my dream from the very beginning.

"Okay, if you say so."

I glanced at my phone. I hadn't realized I'd been here for several weeks already. My bruises and injuries are healing.

The stitches on my side are also healing. It's hard to pretend I'm okay when I really want to cry right now.

"Camael?" I heard the voice of the doctor. It's the handsome Dr. Caldrin Montrearde.

"Hi?" I said awkwardly.

"So... you'll be getting out of the hospital tomorrow. Just a piece of advice: don't let yourself feel stressed or sad. Stop worrying for now, for the sake of your baby. It's normal to feel a bit stressed about the changes happening in your life and your body. If you're only stressed occasionally, it's unlikely to cause problems for your baby. But if you're stressed and anxious day in and day out, ask your midwife or doctor for help. Extreme, prolonged stress can increase the risk of premature birth and low birth weight. Fortunately, this is unlikely to affect you, even if you're very stressed. But it makes sense to address your worries now so you can enjoy your pregnancy." I nodded. I smiled because he spoke like a textbook.

I need to follow Caldrin's advice for the sake of my baby. I don't want him to suffer.

"You can reduce stress by focusing on your baby. From about 23 weeks, your baby can hear your voice, so try chatting, singing, and reading to your bump. It's a great way to bond with your baby and may help you feel more positive about your pregnancy. Get enough rest and sleep. Listen to your body. If you're feeling exhausted, take a break or a nap, and go to bed early. Eating well is good for your brain, your body, and your baby. Make sure you eat regular meals so your blood sugar doesn't drop, which can leave you feeling tired and irritable. Try gentle exercise. Even if it's the last thing you feel like doing, exercising can lift your spirits at any time, including when you're pregnant. Part of the reason is that it releases feel-good chemicals in your brain. That's all for now."

I smiled at him while caressing my tummy.

I am now 10 weeks pregnant.

In the coming weeks and months, I will be able to meet my baby.

"So, I guess I have to leave you now. Rest well, beautiful." I shook my head. Caldrin really reminds me of Simon. They have many similarities.

"A-Are the other students okay now?"

"Yes, they're just recovering like you."

"I want to see them." I want to see the people Simon helped.
