"I love her until the scientist finds who can breathe outside the earth."
"I love her until the scientist finds who can breathe outside the earth."
"I love her until the scientist finds who can breathe outside the earth."
""He loves me until the scientist finds someone who can breathe outside the Earth?" I whispered to myself, still reeling from what Simon had said earlier. His words kept echoing in my mind.
I wanted to convince myself that he was joking, that his words were only for the points. Nothing more. Just points.
But something inside me believed his every word. There was no deception in the way he looked at me. I could feel the truth in his eyes. I rubbed my face in frustration.
I scratched my head, unable to turn around because I knew Simon was right behind me. I hadn't spoken to him since then. I didn't know what to say. I had no idea how to respond to his confession.
Should I thank him for his love? Ask if he was serious? Get angry at what he said? Be happy that someone actually liked me?
It feels awkward whenever I try to talk to him.
My heart was racing, not from fear but from Simon's presence. I didn't know why, but his words had made me feel giddy, though I tried not to show it.
"Camael..." he called my name. Why does my name sound so wonderful when he says it?
"Y-Yes?" He just shook his head and looked away. His presence behind me made me restless, too shy to face him.
We used to talk nonstop, but now we were tongue-tied around each other. Neither of us wanted to start a conversation. It felt like we were waiting for the other to break the silence.
"You mad?"
"H-Huh? No," I lied.
When I glanced at the door, I saw other students finally exiting. I hoped I could leave soon. Simon's presence was overwhelming.
"C-Can we go out now?"
"Yes."
I quickly ran away from him, not daring to look back. I was too embarrassed. I heard him calling my name repeatedly, but I ignored him.
I was strong, but Simon had reduced me to this? Impossible.
I ran to my room and leaned against the door, feeling the sweat drip from my forehead and my heart pounding in my chest. Cynthia woke up and looked at me with concern.
"I-I'm fine," I told her. She helped me to my bed. I still couldn't believe what had happened. I rubbed my face in disbelief.
How would I face Simon now? I felt like I couldn't show my face to him because I wasn't sure about his words. For all I knew, it could have been a joke or an act. I wanted clarity, but anxiety and embarrassment held me back.
She was asking some questions, but I just couldn't process what happened earlier.
"Simon just confessed! I don't even know if it's true!" Cynthia smiled.
"Yes?" She asked if it was about love.
She grinned like a teenager with a new crush. I ran my fingers through my hair, unsure what to do. I knew Simon might knock on the door or enter through the secret passage any minute.
"You two are a perfect match..." I frowned at her comment. Just as I was about to reply, there was a knock on the door. I knew it. I covered my mouth with my hand. What should I do?
