Anger

I was seething with anger as I stared at the screen.

Granald was smiling while holding a chemical.

It was aimed at Simon.

I could do nothing but watch the man I love suffer.

"No! Not him! Not my man, you fucking old idiot!" I stood up and immediately ran to the next door.

When I opened it, it was pitch dark. I could only see the light from the screen. Granald appeared again.

"So, the Wise's daughter is so brave, huh?"

"Idiot, I'm dauntless."

"Whoa. That was a wrong move, sweetie. Very wrong... oops!" When I looked at the chemical he was pouring, it suddenly started to leak. I felt a rush of intense fear as I watched Simon.

My eyes widened as he nearly poured the chemical on Simon. I was anxious and scared. Any wrong move on my part could mean losing my parents and Simon.

I couldn't afford to make a hasty decision now. I couldn't. As Simon said, this opportunity only comes once, and I needed to think carefully before taking action.

"Let's play, Camael. I have some not-so-hard questions for you... and you have to answer all of them. If you make a mistake? He..." He pointed at Simon, "... will suffer."

I just stared at Simon, who was struggling, but each time he struggled, he was electrocuted. I could only watch him.

Suddenly, guns appeared on either side of me.

What the fuck is this? This is elementary-level stuff.

The guns disappeared, and the next door opened. A new screen appeared.

"What Australian timber made the London docks?"

Suddenly, a sharp pain struck my head.

Damn it, not now! Not now!

"Turpentine. Syncarpia glomulifera."

The pain in my head continued, but I ignored it. I headed to the next door. There, the screens appeared again.

"What is a buret?"

"A long tube of glass usually marked in 0.1mL units that's equipped with a stopcock for the controlled addition of a liquid to a receiving f-flask..."

"Ancient form of medicine which involved making holes in human skull to relieve pressure."

"What is oldest living thing known on Earth?"

"A bristlecone pine in California... it's about 4600 years old."

Hindi ko na mapigilan ang pagsakit ng aking ulo. Sinusubukan kong kumalma ngunit bigla akong nakaramdam ng hilo. Ang sakit at parang binibiyak ang ulo ko.
