It was a few weeks after the latest, incident. Everything eventually calmed down, for the most part, at least. Janet got out of prison, which she was only in for a month or two. She tried to visit any chance she got, much to William's annoyance. He was honestly sick of the woman, oh how badly he wished to kill her, but he wasn't a liar.
He was seated on the couch, with his laptop on his lap, doing some work. Well, trying to. Chris was having a bad day, so he was crying, a lot. It was quite loud, which made William unable to focus. He pushed his glasses up, and focused back on the screen, which didn't last very long.
"Chris. Can you please be quiet?" He asked through his teeth, trying to maintain his composure. Chris looked at his father, who was getting annoyed. The boy nodded, not knowing if he was capable or not.
"He can't help it, I don't tell you to be quiet when you're upset." Lea interrupted as she walked out from the kitchen. William looked at her, with a look that made her uncomfortable. She nervously smiled, not wanting another injury. She was quite scared of him, knowing that he could kill her at any moment.
"You're always in my business. Why can't you just shut up?"
"Because I care, and that makes it my business." He glared at her for a moment, which made her shift her position. He looked back to his computer, and continued to ignore everyone. He was able to focus for a few minutes, before an ear piercingly loud scream rang throughout the house.
"Michael! Give it back!" Elizabeth screeched, making William flinch. Elizabeth chased Michael downstairs, causing him to laugh at her.
"What are you talking about?" Michael grinned at his sister, who was screaming at him.
"My doll! Give it back!" She continued to screech at her older brother, who was holding the doll above his head so she couldn't get it.
"Michael." William said flatly, which made Michael stiffen, and give Elizabeth the doll. She angrily looked at her brother, and trotted back up the stairs. Michael looked back at his father, who was giving him a terrifying glare.
"Father I-"
"I don't want to hear your excuses. You shouldn't have taken something that wasn't yours. That's it."
"But Elizabeth was being too loud."
"Now you understand how I feel. You can go to your room now." Michael rolled his eyes, which caused his father to throw the remote at him, hitting him in the face.
"Don't roll your eyes at me, do you want bread and water for a week?"
"I think you're being to harsh, hun." Lea interrupted.
"I didn't ask for your opinion. Stay out of my business."
"I think that we should go to see the doctor, Will." She suggested, knowing that he was well aware he needed to go. William looked at her, just for a moment though, before looking back to his laptop.
"William..." She said sad and concerned, because she knew that he was having a hard time. She walked over and sat next to him on the couch, and put her hand on his back, which made stiffen.
"Do you ever stop?" He said quietly.
"What do you mean?""
"You trying to show me affection, and pushing me to see a doctor, and stuff. Why do you even care anymore?" Lea looked at him sadly, knowing that he didn't understand.
"Because I love you, and I want you to get better." He shook his head at her statement.
"But why would you waste your time on somebody like me? I thought love was supposed to make people happy?" She looked at him with sorrow. She knew he was very smart and observant, which meant he was good at conveying certain emotions that he really couldn't feel. It made things confusing sometimes, because it was very convincing.
