The rush of Christmas had finally ended, but that didn't mean that there wasn't a rush anymore. That seemed true for others, though. In this house, there was always a rush. Most of the time, it seemed to be caused by Elizabeth. It was always about something dumb, which made it a thousand times worse.

It seemed calm though, well, at least for now. It was around midnight, or something. Lea wasn't able to get very much sleep, due to her pregnancy. Which seemed sketchy but, whatever. She sighed, and looked over at William, who seemed to be sleeping just fine. She had to admit, she was jealous, but now she understood how hard it was to have sleep problems.

"I can feel you staring at me, you know." She almost fell out of the bed, because she didn't know he was awake. He never turned over to look at her, though.

"I didn't know you were awake." She felt him shift, but he still wasn't looking at her.

"I'm always awake. I don't remember the last time I've slept properly." Lea felt her heart ache. She hated to hear all of the problems he was having, but, she knew he could care less about hers. She quickly dismissed the thought as unimportant.

"I thought you had pills for that." His annoyance hung in the air, almost like a curtain.

"I have pills for everything, don't I?" William sarcastically remarked, hating to hear about all the medication he had to take.

"They don't work very well." He finally mumbled, after Lea didn't answer his question, which, wasn't really a question. She sighed sadly, she felt really bad for bringing that up. She knew very well that his medication didn't work very well, and she could tell he was frustrated that they kept giving him new prescriptions.

"I'm sorry." Lea apologized, knowing she probably didn't have to, but that was just how her mind worked now.

"You apologize too much." That caught Lea's attention. Did she really apologize that much?

"Well, if I don't apologize, you'll probably hit me, or something." She mumbled, hoping it wasn't loud enough for him to hear. He scoffed, but didn't say anything.

They both knew that it was true, but neither of them wanted to admit it. They both knew how toxic their relationship was, mostly because of family or friends. Though, neither of them cared, well, somewhat cared. Lea hated to hear about it every time she was asked if they were still together, which William thought was ridiculous. Why do these people, who have nothing to do with anything, have such a problem with a life that isn't their own?

"You should try to go back to sleep." William finally spoke, quietly, but loud enough for Lea to hear.

"You're one to talk." She replied just as quietly, which almost made him chuckle. Almost.

"I would have to take the whole bottle of pills to be able to sleep, decently, at least." This statement confused Lea, only a little.

"If you took the whole bottle you would probably overdose!" She said, almost too loud because she felt his hand cover her mouth, not aggressively though.

"That's the point." She suddenly realized the meaning of the joke, if you could even call it that. As selfish as it seemed, she always thought Chris' depression came from William, though, she never shared that with anyone. Before she knew it, she had drifted off to sleep.

Morning came quicker than anticipated. They were still on winter holiday, which seemed to make everything go smoother. The only thing that was coming up was Lea's sister's birthday, which was proving to be difficult. Lea really wanted to go support her sister, especially since she got a new boyfriend. She only needed to get William on board, because there was no way he wasn't going.
