Winter was now in full swing, one could say. It was close to mid December, but not close enough to Christmas. Elizabeth was excited, because everyday she would run around screaming about it. Maybe not the best idea.

Today was different though, or, unusual. It was snowing, because the weather wanted to be petty today. And, Elizabeth was sick, so that meant no screaming. Lea was sitting on the couch, chatting on the phone. William pretended to be doing something else, but was really listening to her conversation. Who was she talking to, and what about?

"When are you going to be at the airport?" Lea questioned into the phone. She nodded her head, and continued to talk. It sounded like she was talking to someone she cared about dearly. William accidentally dropped a plate, causing it to shatter across the floor, followed by a quiet swear.

Lea turned her head to look at him, as he awkwardly stared back. She ended the conversation, and walked over to help him pick it up, knowing she shouldn't leave him with sharp, broken pieces of plate.

"What happened?" She asked him, many different answers running through her head.

"It slipped." Was all he replied with, making her more suspicious, but not pushing the issue any further.

"Oh, by the way, my friend Rose is coming to stay for a few days. I haven't seen her since we were in school." Lea excitedly stated, standing up from picking up the mess.

"Was that the one who pushed me down the stairs?" She looked at him, kind of in disbelief, then smiled.

"I don't think she would do that. But, she is the one you tried to drown in the water fountain." She remarked, making him sigh.

"You know she doesn't like me right? I don't think this is a very wise idea." Lea ignored him, and kissed his cheek. She was radiating with happiness, it was almost too much. William stared at her as she walked out of the kitchen, following soon after.

It was after lunch, Lea and William were seated in the living room. Michael had gone off with one of his friends for the day, Chris was with his grandma, and Elizabeth was upstairs napping. Lea was on the phone again, which was very rare.

She usually never called people unless it was an emergency. William sighed loudly, getting annoyed for some reason. He never really cared what she was doing, or that she wasn't paying attention to him, but for some reason it was bothering him today. Suddenly, Lea got up off of the couch and looked at William. She smiled at him, then gestured at him that she needed to leave.

"I thought you didn't drive." William sarcastically stated, making her roll her eyes.

"I don't. You're doing that." She responded, then quickly telling whoever was on the other end of the phone that she wasn't talking to them. Now it was his turn to roll eyes, which caused Lea to wave him off. It was quiet for a few minutes, well, between them anyway.

"Rose is at the airport, we need to go get her."

"I'm not leaving Elizabeth home by herself." He argued. The only reason why he didn't want to leave Elizabeth home by herself, was because she would probably wreck the place knowing that nobody was there to stop her.

"Fine. I'll Uber." Lea hung up the phone, and called an Uber, then went outside to wait. William sighed and put his head in his hands. Why did she have to be so stubborn? Soon after she left the house, she came back in.

"Welcome back!" He cheered sarcastically, making her grumble something under her breath, before plopping back down onto the couch, crossing her arms. It was silent again.
