Winter. Nobody really liked it, you just, put up with it, more so because you had no choice but to deal with it. Winter was one of the more sad months, it was to cold to do anything, so most of the time was spent inside. All the trees were bare, the lovely temperatures that were littered about, have since disappeared, and were soon replaced with the bitter air of the season.

Everything was gone, it seemed.

The comfortable seasons were replaced with the cheer of children, from the upcoming holidays. Although, Autumn wasn't quite over yet, they still had to get through, Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was quite the problem in the household, for valid reasons, though.

November 22. It seemed to come quicker than anyone really wanted it to. Lea stood at the kitchen counter, with her sister, who was visiting for the holiday, trying to figure out how to read the measurements, as the were written in the metric system. Lea groaned and dropped her head onto the recipe book.

"How come mom had non-American books? I can't read this!"

"I don't know, Lea. I don't understand it either, can't we google it? What was it again?"

"175ml. Why can't we just do it manually? Like, with math?" Adrianna sighed at her sister, who was being stubborn, as always. She knew neither of them were capable at doing the conversions, and all hope seemed lost, until somebody walked into the kitchen.

"William!" Adrianna screamed, causing him to almost drop his glass, which was almost empty. Lea shot a look at her sister while he regained his composure.

"What?" William asked as he cleared his throat, analyzing the situation before agreeing to anything.

"You don't happen to have any metric measuring cup, things, do you?"

"Hmm. Nope, somebody threw them out, stating that nobody used the metric system and how it wasn't important." He glared at Lea, who sheepishly looked away. She felt a hand ruffle her hair, and her sister chuckled at the action.

"It's okay, you don't need to help us. Thanks though!" Adrianna smiled up at him, trying to convince him otherwise

"You're being stubborn, you know I'm more than capable of helping." They stared at each other for a minute, before Lea interrupted and pecked his cheek, which made her sister giggle. Oh how jealous she was.

"175ml of milk. We're trying to get it to cups." They stood in silence for about a minute, maybe two, letting William work whatever magic they thought he had, but was just basic brain function.

"I'll just eyeball it, as you would if you were doing cups." Lea followed his instructions, and let him take the milk and pour it in the bowl, while her sister just stared at him in awe. She thought her sister was so lucky, oh how wrong she was.

"If that messes it up, I'll give it to my mum. Now, I'll leave you guys to slave away for the rest of the day on some stupid holiday." William snapped sarcastically, putting quotation marks around "holiday".

"Will. You need to calm down, I know you didn't celebrate this in your childhood, but, now you're involved in this culture."

"Excuse me? I would appreciate it if you would stop harassing me, because I choose not to be involved."

"You're in America now, so you should celebrate our traditions." William rolled his eyes, she always made this argument, every single time.

"Well, if I'm in America then I should have the right to celebrate it or not. End of discussion." He quickly waved her off and left the kitchen, causing Lea to slump over on the counter.
