*TRIGGER WARNING*
It was the end of the year, finally. After what seemed to be much longer, its only been a year. And withing that year, a lot happened. It's hard to think about for most, especially if those events weren't particularly positive, but some things were still...decent.
Lea was sitting on the front porch, thinking about all of the events that have happened in the past year. For her, it was difficult to think about positive things, as there were very few that came to mind. She wished her life was different, just at least a little more, normal. Though, she knew that would never happen, and that she would have to be happy with the life that she had.
She realized she never had normal life, and that all started early in her childhood. Usually these memories were pushed to the back of her mind, but due to recent events, they had resurfaced. She hated to talk about these things, because she felt selfish.
At this point, she had started to cry. Why couldn't she just stop thinking? She didn't care about the occasional person walking down the street, nor did she care about the stares they gave her. They didn't know what she was going through. Throughout everything, she always kept a good composure, no matter what. But it all seemed to be crumbling down.
"You've been out here for a long time." Lea immediately wiped her eyes, scared of what could happen if William saw her crying. She knew he hated that, but she just couldn't seem to stop crying. Surprisingly, he sat down next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"What happened?" He said, seemingly with no emotion. She glanced up to meet his gaze, but didn't respond right away. It was near silent for a couple seconds.
"I'm just thinking..." She mumbled, but she knew that he didn't believe her lie. She sighed, deciding to give in.
"You know what happened when I was younger?" He nodded slightly, knowing briefly what happened, but not nearly enough to know why she was crying. She started to explain what happened, dragging it out at first, but eventually explained steadily.
~flashback~
Lea was six years old, a little young to start, right?
She was sitting in her room, playing with her dolls while her mother made breakfast. Her younger sister was playing with her, everything seemed to be normal. After a few minutes, their mom came in, and called them out to breakfast.
Lea followed her younger sister to the kitchen, not aware of the stare her father was giving her. She trotted over to where her mom was, grabbing a plate of food and sitting down at the table. See, Lea was a very happy child, that was until the incident.
"Good morning, Sweetie." Her dad happily said, giving her a grin, which, looking back on it now, was somewhat suspicious.
"Good morning!" She said back with just as much enthusiasm, which he found admirable.
Lea was eating her breakfast, not really paying attention to anything that was going on. She felt her dad staring at her, but didn't look up to see. She glanced over at her sister, who was happily eating her breakfast.
* * *
It was after breakfast, and both the girls were in their bedroom, playing with dolls. Again, everything seemed normal, nothing out of place. It was their mother's day to work, so, she had left about an hour before. Lea's dad walked in the room, but not completely entering. Neither of the girls noticed.
"Adrianna, I think it's time for a nap." He informed Lea's sister, picking her up and putting her in her bed, tucking her in. After Adrianna was asleep, he looked over at Lea, who was still on the floor playing with dolls. Shortly after, she got up off the floor and started making her way to her room.
