The darkness of night had quickly fallen over the neighborhood, soon being consumed by the darkness. People turned on their lights, naturally. But they were turned off just as quickly as they turned on. Soon enough, the whole town had fallen into a slumber, proved by the minimal activity.

It was raining, as it did during spring time. The rain was heaving, pouring even. Occasionally thunder could be heard, along with the flash of lightning.

Barely anything was going on, due to it being very late into the night, and the rain. Most kids were on their break, which also meant lots were on vacation.

The main cause for the slow in activity, however, was the rain, which happened a lot more often then before.

Lea had been awake for a bit of time due to the thunder. And due to her being scared, she wasn't letting William go to sleep. Every time he dozed off, there happened to be thunder, making Lea jump. Every time she startled, he was forced back awake.

"Hey love? Can you at least try to fall asleep?"

"Try? Will, it's impossible to sleep with this going on!" Lea said, jumping in the middle of her sentence due to a loud crack of thunder.

"I literally fell asleep twenty times."

"Well, you take medicine."

"You know to doesn't work all the time." William rolled his eyes, which wasn't filled with very much emotion.

"If you can't sleep I'll go get you some."

"Are you crazy?!" He looked at her half asleep, not even faxed by the question.

"I know it's prescribed, but if you need it that bad I'll go downstairs and get a few."

"No, I'm okay."

They sat there for a few minutes, no conversation happening between them. The thunder seemed to be calming down, until another big crack sounded, followed by many more.

"Let's go." William yawned, getting out of bed and stretching.

"Go where?"

"Downstairs." She slowly got up to follow him, not sure what was going through his head right then, but she trusted him.

Once they were downstairs, Lea was startled by another crack of thunder. She followed William into the living room, watching as he sat down at the piano.

Before she could say anything, he started playing. At first she was confused, not knowing that he was even able to play the piano.

"I didn't know you could play the piano." She said after a few minutes, not wanting to interrupt.

"I don't buy things that are useless." He responded, taking his fingers off the keys, leaving them in silence.

"Really?" She asked sarcastically. He looked at her for a few minutes before looking at the ground.

"When did you learn to play?"

"When I was younger, obviously. It's something my mom took pride in, being able to brag about her kid."

"Did she ever brag?" She heard him laugh slightly, which was answer enough to her question.

"No. Even though I had great qualities, she could never see past my mental health."

"She never took you to see a doctor?"

"Of course she did. But every time they told her something, she ignored them, because it wasn't the answer she wanted." Lea looked at him, sorrow filling her eyes. She knew his mom wasn't the best, and felt bad for asking.
