The Guy With An I.D On His Back

A R Y A

They said that high-school life is the most enjoyable phase in a teenager's life. All rose-colored, fun and exciting.

Let's just say I don't believe in that crap.

I came from a small elementary school and was forced to transfer into a larger and more known school. For me high-school life is a shocker!

. . . . .

One morning, I found myself running late around the campus. Classes start at seven-thirty and it was already ten am. Talk about being a slowpoke! I seriously needed to change my stupid alarm clock!

I reached the fourth Floor of the high school building in which our room was located. I was greeted by the usual noises of the teenagers at the corridors. Most students were fooling around with each other. A few isolated couples were making out on the corner.

Urk! They make me sick!

Unlike other girls my age who frolic around and look for handsome boys and 'soulmates' ; I on the other hand, believe it doesn't exist.

There's no way that some destiny or fate or whatever you call it controls who gets to be with whom in the future right?
Heck I believe if we want something, we must make that decisions for ourselves!

I rolled my eyes and went into the sanctuary of our classroom. As disappointing as it sounds, morning classes were over.

I was debating whether to burn my alarm clock or kick it over and over again when I noticed someone waving at me.

"Oooh! Look who's here Lieu!" Jadey, one of my best friends called.

During the first days of school, there were always people who possess the "extra friendly trait." In my case it was Jadey. Let's just say that she got under my skin too much, that's why she managed to evade my walls and became my best friend.

Her liveliness attracted another "energetic" person. A small, skinny but talkative guy. His name is Jerson but Jadey wanted to call him lieutenant. She said it suited him well. Jerson came from a school with a military name of who knows why anyway, so he kind of agreed to it.

"You're pretty much early - Early for lunch that is!Pfft!" Lieutenant snickered and Jadey joined in the laughter.

"Oh shut up you two!" I scowled.

"Forget it! It's near afternoon anyway and I'm hungry," Lieu announced while rubbing his tummy.

I was about to tell him how much of a glutton he was when Jadey grabbed my arm. She didn't even let me settle down first.

"Arya, I've got something to tell you!" Jadey was almost bouncing up and down clearly excited for some girl talk.

"Calm down jeez," I rolled my eyes.

"Guess what? I have a new crush!" She excitedly babbled.

I snorted, it's not like this is the first time you had one Jadey.

"Okay, okay let me guess. Is it some weird guy in our class?" I raised my eyebrows skeptically.

"No, of course not! It's some guy from the third year!"Jadey countered.

"So...he's hot?" I wiggled my eyebrows at her suggestively.

"Of course, I'll show him to you after dismissal." Jadey was instantly red-faced.

"Okay, if that's what you want," I shrugged.

. . . . .

After dismissal, Jadey took me out for a treat. There were little stores located outside of our school I particularly wanted to visit for their awesome shakes.

I was busily sipping on my favorite mango shake while Jadey, who went literally crazy, uttered out of the blue, "He's here! He's here!"

She excitedly pulled my arm and I thought it was going to break off...for good.

When we got closer, she silently dragged me to a spot near a guy who was standing not far away from us. He was talking to his buddies.

"Which one of them are you talking about?" I whispered to her bemused. She nodded at the guy standing just in front of me.

I couldn't see the features of the guy since he had his back on me. But then, I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing.

Is this guy stupid or what?

The guy's ID was  hung at his back. The smug face of the guy in the ID was facing us. I decided to take a closer look.

"Harvard, Brian Christian? Like the University Harvard?" I unconsciously read out loud. Stupidly if I might add.

Everyone within earshot heard it and turned their heads towards me. I gulped.

"Do you have a problem with that?" A cool voice said.

I slowly raised my head. Instantly my eyes were met by equally brown ones but cooler than mine. The guy was already staring at me. He looks like I pissed him off alright!

I was shocked and petrified.

The guy was a spiteful version of Rein, the only guy who took my interest before.

For a split second, I thought they really looked alike but I realized they weren't when I stared at the guy's pointy nose. Rein had something of a birth mark at the tip of his nose which made me tease him that he was Rudolph the reindeer in human form.

The guy had almost the same features as him. He had black hair that had a clean cut, pointy nose, naturally red lips, he was wearing an earring on his left ear which I admit suited him so well. He looked like a delinquent! Gorgeous delinquent!

What struck me was the way his warm brown eyes watch me which was very unnerving. I didn't even realize that I was already gawking at the guy not until I felt Jadey's tightening grip on my arm.

I was at a loss for words to say and my face must've displayed utter shock.

What to do now?

. . . . . . . . . .
