Another Side

"Oh shit, what happened?!" I came back to my senses worried sick.
"It's already closing time, idiot!" Brian swatted my hand off when we started hearing voices and boisterous laughter.
"Wh-What's that?" I worriedly said.
Brian pulled me closer and clasped my mouth. "Be quiet."
Apparently, we were not alone in the library even though it was already closing hours.
"Those stupid staffs were pathetic wimps!"
"Yeah, yeah, they ran off like pigs after we scared them off."
"B-But I don't get why we need to turn off the lights. I-it's dark here a-and scary."
"Idiot! Of course to avoid others being suspicious that the library is still open!" The voice who looks like the brains in the group said.
"Now, now why don't we start wreaking havoc here? The chief librarian would surely get in trouble if the president learns about the damage!"The leader seemed to say.
"Dang it all, it's Raul's gang!" Brian cursed under his breath.
Raul's gang? Where did I hear that name before? Oh I remember now!
They were the ones who got suspended for organizing a hazing event for the freshmen!
Raul, who was the leader, was a senior. He was forced to repeat a year since he failed all his subjects. If I remember, the Chief Librarian refused to sign his clearance for tearing up plenty of books in the library for fun. Clearly he's having a revenge spree.
I felt fear. What if Raul discovered us? What if he knows that there were witnesses to their crime?
The gang started tearing books and pushing chairs, tables and breaking glasses. It was chaotic everywhere. Didn't the guards hear this ruckus? They're probably skipping duty again.
"Wh-what are we going to do?"
Brian whispered, "Crawl slowly towards the librarian's office. There is a small space we could go through, we can hide behind the counter." I nodded to let him know I understood.
I tried so hard to ignore the fact that his warm breath was tickling my ear.
We started to crawl. I was a bit self-conscious as Brian was crawling behind me since I was wearing a skirt and well, you know! But I guess it was not the time to worry about unnecessary things right now.
Focus Arya! Focus!
We were halfway through when we heard a loud crashing noise.
The bookshelves were already knocking each other off in a domino effect, including the book shelf that was near us. Before I knew what was happening, I was pinned to the ground. Brian was on top of me and he was shielding me from a falling bookshelf.
"Damn it!" I heard him mutter under his breath as the bookshelf hit his shoulder, I was worried. He must be in so much pain.
"Move it! I can't hold it much longer!" He hissed.
I quickly crawled through the narrow gap created between the fallen bookshelf and the floor and finally reached the area behind the counter.
Thank God, I felt Brian shuffle as he sat beside me after awhile. The hiding place was a bit cramped so we were in close proximity. I could even smell his perfume.
