BRIAN CHRISTIAN HARVARD

My eyes adjusted in the dark.

Actually, I was expecting for it to be dark, but not this dark.

It almost felt like we were in some kind of horror den. I was about to pull Arya away when a sudden dim, blue, light showed up.

The sudden burst of light on the dark room made my eyes blink. I stared more closely after my eyes had adjusted and noticed that a somewhat figure of a hunched woman formed behind the blue orb light. I squinted my eyes to take a closer look and what I saw caught me off guard that I almost cried out if not for Arya pulling me back to my senses.

She squeezed my hand as if she were also surprised by the sudden appearance of the woman. I took hold of myself then coughed ever so slightly to gain Arya's attention.

"So...Starting to regret your decision of believing in something called fate?" I started. This comment only earned a frown from her.

"I'm not a coward Harvard, let's go."

I gulped.

Arya's frown never left her and instead, she pulled me towards the blue orb rather roughly.

Mental note to self? Do not ever, ever make a joke of her being a coward lest you regret it.

I groaned.

"Come in, come in, and don't be afraid." The figure who seemed like an old woman by the whiteness of her hair and the bagginess of her clothes, beckoned us to come closer and when we did, my eyes widened with what I saw.

The woman's eyeballs were literally what shocks you the most.

It's not that they were abnormal, but it was pure white, yep! Pure white no black. It's as if it was rolling backwards like she's in some kind of trance or what.

If that does not spell CREEPY, I don't know what will.

"Sit! Sit! Oh! I finally have my first set of customers for today!" The old woman said as she beckoned as to the two elegant looking chair seated in front of her.

The woman's face wasn't that familiar at all. Guess the school invited visitors from outside.

Hmm...Considering how deserted the outside of the tent, no wonder no one comes and visits around.

Maybe, we'll be the only customers she'll have.

"Now that's a rather rude comment for someone asking for guidance don't you think young man?" The old woman said out of the blue, her gaze suddenly bore into mine as if reprimanding me.

Wait, how did she –

"Oh come now young man, your face is rather obvious." She chuckled.

"I- Uh –"I was speechless.

"And to prove that I bear you no ill will, I'll have this session for free. Think of it as a bonus as a first customer." The woman even winked as she settled down on the chair.

I looked down, pretty much embarrassed by my behavior.

Ugh, I'm such a knucklehead sometimes.

"So? Shall we start? May I have both of your hands please?"

Arya and I stared at each other, then just like a silent agreement, both of us placed our free hands on the table. But the old woman just shook her head in response.

"Your other hand please." She corrected.

Why do I have a feeling that she was addressing to us as if we were just one person? Automatically, our eyes went to our hands which was 'cuffed' together.

At the same time, we both noticed that we were both still holding hands. We both flushed and let go.

"U-Uh, here!" Both of us said at the same time while placing our hands on the table.

The old woman chuckled. "Ah, young love. How nostalgic."

"W-Were not!" Arya quickly stood up in protest, like she was surprised at what the woman said.

I don't know why I stared at her, more surprised at her reaction than what the old woman said.

I don't know why I suddenly felt saddened.

So doesn't she...

ARYA SAVIER

Shoot!

I've been having this weird feeling ever since we entered this place. And now I felt like there was something in me that needs to burst but I couldn't understand what.

Every time I stare at this old woman, I couldn't help but feel that she knew something that I don't. And what's up with her conversation with Brian anyway? Was she some kind of mind reader or something?

And when she said the word "Young Love" I couldn't contain it anymore. The embarrassment, this, this odd feeling.

But when I reacted, I quickly regretted it. Brian's expression was unreadable. And he quickly looked away. So I looked down to and got back to my seat.

I wonder what he's thinking right now.

I started to worry.

D-Did he hate me for how I reacted?

"Hmm, trouble a brewing eh? Let's start with the young lad here." The old woman called and she held Brian's hands.

She looked closer and traced Brian's palm, and murmured some words too low for me to hear. Then she closed her hands as if indulging in some kind of deeper trance.

I noticed that the blue orb's light grew brighter.

"In you young man I see, Dark times ahead for you and thee. Watch out for jealousy twists the truth, to lose a bond and mend another is the only way. It will take some time but I tell you, take heart, you have finally found what you seek, but time will be the only judge of what the future holds. So never ever lose sight of the goal."

Brian frowned in confusion and so did I. The whole speech wasn't even in rhymes but everything seemed like a riddle.

Then she turned to me and held my hand. Her face suddenly went from a smile into a sad face.

"My dear so sweet, you lack confidence and trust. This will be your downfall, for snakes are everywhere waiting for their prey. You will be lost for anger will cloud your judgement. But he who is concealed shall bring it back. Look hard far beyond what eyes could see, before you lose the one thing you really seek. But if by chance you do, take heart my child. For what time have lost it will bring back and only then you'll find your other half." She squeezed my hand and the last thing I saw was her kind smile.

Then the blue light went out. And it was darkness all over again.

"Let's go..."

Brian's quiet voice broke the silence. But his was comforting

I slowly nodded in agreement. And with that, I felt his hand held mine. And this time, I held it back.
