how I personally know people are your true/good friends-

1)I'm not the one always putting in the effot to talk and hang out. a good friend, and a good friendship goes both ways, if only one person is putting in all the work. its time for you to break up with that friend, because you deserve all the effort back that you put in.

2)they listen to me complain. when I'm having a bad day, they listen to everything I say and I don't mean listen as in occasionaly drop in an "oh yea I totattly understand" in the conversation to make it seem like they are listening. I mean listening as in eyes on you, you know you have their complete attention , and you can truely tell they care about what's wrong. I have a lot of "friends" aren't there for me when I have a problem, but expect me to be there everytime they have a bad hair day or they fail a test or break a nail.... those are not the type of people to give your time to.

3) they tell you the truth even if it hurts. true friends will tell you that dress makes you look fat, and that color is horrible on you. true friends will tell you that the person you like isent that cute. true friends will tell you that you really cant sing and trying out for the talent show is a bad idea beyond bad ideas.

4) they will defend me to my worst enemy, even if I'm wrong. they will have my back, and always be there for me. whether they are helping me get a date with my crush, or helping me tell off a bully. they will stand next to me the whole way through.

5) (more for best friend level) when they know whatsong will cheer you up when you're sad, or know your favorite candy to bring you when you don't get asked to the dance. or know that when you go out together and an unattractive person hits on you, your friend automatically becomes your lover. the unsend rule every friend should know.
