Chapter 16

Lennox' POV

I watch her as she approach the man leaning beside a car. His face instantly lit up when he saw her and kissed the top of her head. Pumasok sila ng kotse at umalis na.

I snatched my phone out and dialled Zaito's number. I need someone to talk to. I don't know if I'm just overthinking things. I am so confused and I need to clear things up.

"Hello?! Lucchese? Napatawag ka?" He asked in a highpitched tone. Naririnig ko mula sa background ang ilang tilian.

"Nasaan ka?"

"Ano--hello?! Sorry mate pero pwedeng mamaya ka nalang tumawag? Nandito ako ngayon sa isang mall event and---"

I didn't make him finish and just ended the call. I already got the message, busy siya at hindi siya pwede ngayon.

I sighed and walked towards my car. Pumasok ako at nagdrive papunta sa HHq. I don't feel like being alone tonight kaya pagchatyagaan ko lang muna ang mga tao dun.

'Ang lakas ng tibok ng puso ko kasi nandyan ka.'

I clenched my left chest when my heart started beating erratically. This can't be. This feeling is strange to me but I'm not that ignorant to not recognize what it means.

Sarado ang 'Heaven On Earth' ni Damian Pevensie kaya sa likod ako dumaan. May isa pa kaming secret passage sa pinaka parking lot ng gusali. There is also a hidden elevator there that will bring us to the HHq.

Pagdating ko dun ay naabutan ko si Shadow na nakatutok sa harap ng mga monitors. There's a part here na puno ng mga computers, gadgets, etc. na siya mismo ang kumokontrol. There is atleast twelve screens infront of him, no wonder the lens of his eyeglasses is thick.

"We are they?" I asked as I offered him a handshake.

"Damian and Jasper are on a mission. Yankee is attending a Mall event. Kei is in her cabin. Seriously, Lennox? Wala man lang ba diyan 'How's life treating you, Shadow?'" He asked sarcastically. Nakapukos pa rin siya sa harap.

"Oh. How's fucking life fucking treating you, Shadow?" I mimicked in a bored tone.

He smirked. "So effin good, Lucchese." Sagot niya ng hindi pa rin hinihiwalay ang tingin sa mga monitor.

I checked it out. Sa pinakamalaking monitor ay isang satellite map at sa iba naman ay mga CCTV footage ng isang bahay. Mukhang hinack niya iyon para mabantayan kung anuman ang nasa loob.

"Bagong mission?" I asked.

"Hindi pa sa ngayon. Chineck ko lang ang profiles nila. Naghihintay pa ako ng kliyente na kukuha ng serbisyo natin."

"And why is that?"

"Lennox, kahit naman alam kong masama ang isang tao o may gusto akong tapusin, I just can't eliminate them that easy. Alam kong hindi libre ang mga serbisyo niyo. So naghihintay muna ako ng isang kliyente na handang magbayad para ipapatay sila. As of the moment, I just write their names on my Death Note." He then waved a brown notebook in the air.

Naiiling na tumalikod na lang ako at tinungo ang cabin ko. Shadow Laughlin is really a wise dork. Itinuturing na niyang business ang pagpatay. Sabagay, we wouldn't be this rich kung hindi sigurista ang manager namin.

I get inside my cabin to change. Bawat isa sa amin ay may partikular na kuwarto dito na kumpleto sa mga gamit. There is a mini sala set, king-sized bed, refrigerator full of food, closets for clothes and weapons and other useful things for our convenience inside. It's like we are living in a five-star hotel room.

Paglabas ko ay nakacycling shorts na lang ako. I entered the boxing ring and do a warm-up exercise. Pagkatapos nun ay hinarap ko na ang punching bag.
