Chapter Twelve; Queen Duties ---->

Regina:

My eyes open the next morning, a yawn escaping my mouth. I turn my head and see that Harry is still asleep, causing a smile to spread onto my lips. This is one of those rare days that I'm awake before Harry. I move onto my side, now completely facing Harry. My hand wonders out, lighting moving to trace the swallows inked into Harry's chest. I loved his tattoos, all of them.

After tracing his chest tattoos for about ten minutes, he starts to stir. I quickly withdraw my hand, not wanting to be caught. However, he starts to grin tiredly, causing me to frown.

"Why'd ya stop?" He whines tiredly and I smile, happily moving my hand back, continuing to trace his tattoos to his pleasure.

Today is my first day of Queen's duties. I have to spend the first half of my day with Harry and then the rest of the day on my own. I don't know what to expect today, but, I do know that how today turns out, it will set the tone for me as Queen.

It's now or never.

After I had gotten dressed, I followed Harry to our first duty of the day. Harry said that it was a court holding to determine whether or not individuals currently held in the dungeons are guilty or innocent.

"Are you sure you want to do this? I can excuse you from this particular duty." Harry asks me as we stand outside of the court house. I smile at his care for me.

"I want to do this. I'll be fine, I promise." I tell him, leaning up to kiss his lips. He smiles into the kiss and nods when I pull away.

"Okay, but, if it gets too much for you, you tell me and you're out of there." He tells me, gently placing his hands onto my shoulders. I nod, promising him.

Seeming satisfied with my answer, he pushes the door to the court house open, gesturing me inside first. I mentally suck in a huge breath and walk inside. There was a huge lobby, doors going in a circle around it. Harry takes my hand and leads me over to one of the doors.

When we get inside, the room was already filled up, except for two thrones, obviously for Harry and I.

"Welcoming King Harry and Queen Regina!" A very official and stern man exclaims and Harry nods to him. We walk over to the thrones and Harry helps me sit in the one on the left before he sits down on the one on the right. He then lifts his hand up and makes a gesture. "Bring on the first!" The same man demands and two guards drag a scruffy looking man into the room.

"Now, this man, Rogwell Jenkins made an attempt on our King's life one year ago today. He was caught with a wooden stake dipped with gorgan, a deadly poison to Vampires. Now, we can sentence him to life in the dungeons or death." The man explains and I watch as everybody in the room turns to Harry.

"Death." He says before turning to me. I look at the guy in question. He is glaring at Harry deathly. If he is a threat to Harry and the Kingdom, he can't be allowed to live.

"Death." I finally say and I watch as the man is dragged struggling away.

"Next!" The man yells and I watch again as another man is dragged in by two more guards.

I actually think I can do this.

As I get a few feet away from the court house, I feel arms wrap themselves around my waist and gentle lips press to my neck. When I turn my head, I see Harry and I stop in my tracks.

"I'm so proud of you, baby. You did so well in there." He smiles and leans down to kiss me. I smile as he pulls away.

Suddenly, Niall and Liam come rushing over to us. I frown, along with Harry.

"Regina, it's your family! They've been taken!" Niall exclaims and I gasp, tears filling my eyes.

"Taken!?! By who?!?" I panic.

"Sabour." Liam whispers and Harry growls lowly from behind me.
