Through stressful hours at work with Kentrell had been terrible. He never wanted to listen and whenever I tried to ask him a question, he only repeated it back to me. When I tell you my nerves were on fire when it came to that boy.
Just when he tried to break me down at my worse, he decided to leave, causing me to hold onto my head that was going in rotation. Thinking about Dave made me weak and urging to hear his voice.
Picking up my phone to call him made me remember the fact that he was angry at me for no reason. I set my phone back down looking outside of my glass window feeling the urge to cry once more.
Fighting the pain, I gathered my things getting ready to leave and went to pick up Kairi. Time to go see Dave and actually work things out.
Dave
"As long as you're okay, that's all that matters to me," looking towards my mother's face seeing her gently smile gave me comfort.
It's been awhile since I last saw her. We had an argument, but one thing I know for sure is that she'll always love me regardless.
"Now, who is this girl you got under your wing? Please tell me she's a GOOD one this time. You know how I feel about that other one," her stern eyes glared over the thought of Millie. After Kairi was born, for some reason, her and my mama ain't never got along.
"Mama, yeen gotta bring ha up. This good one got a name, Parker Hardware. She a luh therapist and she's watching over Kairi while I'm in here."
"You let some girl watch my grand baby while I'm only 25 minutes away? Boy you betta- ...you outta thank the Lord I took this medicine cause chile, I'd whoop your ass," semi-raising her voice, her little finger pointed in my face.
"Mama, yeen gotta worry, but as far as I'm concerned, me and her ain't on speaking terms," taking a deep breath, I began to explain the details of my relationship with Parker. EVERYTHING.
Watching her lean over towards me, her hand rose and I felt a burning slap go across my face feeling hot.
"Damn mama, what was that for?"
"Yo stupid ass over here can't feel your damn legs and you mad at her about protecting you? That girl was trying to save you from doing something dumb. Look at where it ended you! Should be ashamed of your dumbass."
Feeling along my cheek and rubbing the pain, I rubbed my cheek and turned my head to look up at her.
My mind was blank, "What you suggest I do then?"
For whatever reason, it seems like I never know the right answer.
"Cherish her for one, next you better apologize...don't wanna her another word of it. Now, whenever she do come to see your sorry looking ass, I pray that I'm here to witness how big of a fool you are. That's it with you young men, your mamas grow you up to be something good and you still manage to do something stupid. If she's as good as I hear, she'll stay son."
Her finger tips crawled up against my back and rubbed upward and downward. My mother was right. If Parker gon be the one to take care of me, I should at least apologize about this first. I need her with me through every step of the way.
"Thank you ma, and I'll do what you said, promise."
"Shidd, well hurry up and get back on those feet, I need an oil change and you know DAMN well ion trust no goddamn Sean," she reached towards her purse as I busted up laughing. Always count on this ole woman to make you laugh.
"Okay church usher, I'm gon tell pastor on ya ole self."
"Son please, I'm sleeping with his fine self," a smirk appeared across her face as I could feel the disgusting hospital lunch rising from my stomach. Luckily, I kept it in before feeling slightly dizzy. The pastor though ma? she trippin' trippin'.
