—Are you sure I look good? -I ask my sister once again and she sighs in annoyance-
—How many times do I have to tell you that you DO look good in it? -she says as I check myself on the mirror, again-
—I still think I look too slutty -I laugh- imagine if I go so dressed up and when I arrive they're dressed normally? I'll be so ashamed
—Chris will want to rip that dress off you as soon as he sees you -we laugh- besides, if he told you that the dress code was kind of formal then you're all good -Sara smiles-
—Okay, okay... I'm kind of nervous, I know I've spent a lot of time with them but this is... I don't know, weird, I guess -My mood instantly drops- I'm missing you guys, too much -my eyes start to water-
—Oh please, Gabriela, don't -her voice cracks too- I know this is tough but you have to be thankful over the fact that there are people that love you, you won't be spending Christmas alone thank God—I didn't wanted you to stay on your apartment all by yourself while drinking your nostalgia away -I clean the tears from my cheeks-
—I know, I know, and I'm thankful for them... It's just, there's nothing like your own family, our traditions, everything it's just... hard -I sigh loudly- let's change the subject, I don't wanna have puffy eyes
—Have you talked to dad? He asked me about you today -Sara abruptly changes the subject-
—Yeah I have, I FaceTimed them yesterday, my mom started to cry so much my dad ended up scolding her -I laugh- he didn't wanted me to feel sad -I say, unconsciously bringing the subject again-
—Are you gonna tell my dad about Chris any time soon? -and there she was, changing the subject again, thankfully she's very clever-
I have talked to my dad about Chris, just not that we've dated, I just told him that I was casually hanging out with his family and that's it, then he asked me to take a picture with him because he didn't believed, when I asked Chris for the picture and explained him why, he laughed so much, and then he decided to record a video of himself greeting my mom and dad
—I will but when we're official, you know like, boyfriend and girlfriend. If we become a couple.
Minutes went by as I spoke to Sara while finishing my look up, then Chris texted me telling me he was on his way, which was my clue to hurry up even more. I grabbed everything that I bought for dessert and tried not to trip because it would be a disaster.
Just as soon as I was walking in the elevator my phone vibrated with a text from Chris saying he was outside, just on time
I walk towards the car and he comes out helping me with the stuff, he puts in on the back seat and then looks at me with an amazed expression—Wow, Gabbie -he scans me from head to toes- you look beyond stunning, I'm breathless thanks to your beauty -he leans in and pecks my lips, making me 2 times happier-
—Here -I wipe his inferior lip- you've got red lipstick -I shyly giggle- and thank you, sir Evans -I joked- you don't look so bad yourself
-I know, I know -he replies, cockily-
We stepped in the car, the drive to her mom's house was us singing along to whatever song came into the radio
~
—We're here! -Chris announces-
Lisa came out and hugged me, then the rest showed up
40 minutes ago I was sad, now I'm happy that I get to spend Christmas Eve with them
We sat down and started to talk about everything, then started to thank about everything, mostly about the fact that destiny brought us all together. It was a nostalgic moment, Lisa then started to tell Christmas stories about her children when they were elder
—Oh! Shawn just texted me he's ready -Scott squeals with excitement- I'm gonna pick him up, I'm excited you're all gonna meet him, I'll be right back
—I'm happy for you! -I say to him- I'm sure we'll love him
—Thanks boo -he gives me a sincere smile- I'm happy for you too, Chris and you look gorgeous together, guess you're meant to be -he waves at us, disappearing from the front door-
—I'm happy too -Chris told me quietly in my ear, making me shiver- Carly? Shanna? Would any of you take a picture of Gabbie and I? -he stands up taking his phone out-
—I will -Shanna says standing up, Chris offers me his hand making me stand up- besides the Christmas tree, it would look just amazing
And we did as she said, we made our way to the tree and posed next to each other
—Mom! Dad! Would you come over here, please? -Chris shouts, making his mom and dad appear- here, let's take a pic -as soon as he said that I move out of the way but he pulled me back in- with you, silly.
Shanna happily snapped the photo of us four. Gotta admit it looked amazing
—This is the photo we'll have in the living room if we ever get to live together -Chris mumbles to me as he shows me the picture of his parents, him and I-
What Chris said left me speechless and made me feel nostalgic, I feel the urge to cry, he realizes that and wears on a worried expression
—What's the matter? What happened?
—Sorry -I try to calm down- sorry, it's just that what you said touched me, you're really sweet -I say and peck his lips like three times in a row before looking at him with a smile plastered on my face-
—Gabbie, I really want to be with you for as long as you allow me to -he hugs me- I want to make you the happiest woman in the world. -he pauses, and then kiss my lips again- I know this might seem too fast for you, and all of this might've happened so quick... But, will you be my girlfriend?
