—What are you doing?
Chris walks into the room looking preoccupied, I frown my face and stare at him
—I, I'm watching football. Well, soccer -I correct myself, remembering in the US is known as soccer- why do you look so agitated? Is everything okay?
Dodger barks at his human-dad, acting like a human, one more time. I'm sure they -dogs- know more than we think they do.
—What happened is that Carly gave birth. Right. Now.
I can't help but squeal due to the excitement, Carly's so special to me & knowing that her baby was born already makes me want to jump in one feet
—OMG!!! How do you know? Who told you? -I stand up from the bed-
—Dad told me, he just called me. She's at Seattle, she wasn't supposed to give birth yet, so my parents are on their way to Washington, but Shanna, Scott and Shawn are with her.
—I am so excited with the news that I'd catch a flight to Seattle with no problem -I say smilingly- congratulations, uncle -I lean to give him a peck-
—Thank you -he mumbles- I'm... shocked? I don't know how to describe it. It's just... it's amazing.
He's stares at a blank point, deep into his thoughts & probably mesmerised at them.
—Have you seen the baby yet?
—Not yet, I'm going to bug Scott and Shanna. I need to see her.
—Everything's okay with her?
—Yes -he smiles- she's healthy, Carly's alright
~
—There's a lot going on this year -I say as I unbuckle the seat belt- and when I say a lot, I mean it -I giggle-
—When you said you would catch a flight to Seattle, I didn't think you were that serious.
We leave the plane to walk around the airport to grab our suitcase, we packed just one for us since everything was so quick. Luckily, Chris decided to pay for some VIP luggage stuff and our suitcase was one of the first to come out. Little did the Evans know we're on our way to the hospital.
—I'm a dog-dad, I'm an uncle and soon, I will become a father. I try to let that sink in but it's amazing. -he says looking through the cab window- I kind of missed Seattle
—This'll be a huge year for our lives, 2019 changed everything... And I missed Seattle too, I like the weather here.
—All rainy?
—Don't mind me, I just love rainy days.
I look away, getting lost in the buildings. Then realisation hit.
—Christopher, I don't think going to the hospital with that grand suitcase is a good idea. Plus, we didn't bought anything for Carly or the baby.
—Fuck -he mumbles- but I hopped we could... Oh. We need to go to a hotel and check-in, then, we can buy something for them. I initially thought we'd stay at Scott's but my parents are also here. And I don't want to ruin the surprise.
I shrug, impatient by the mere thought of having to do the whole check-in procedure in a hotel, where they're mostly slow as hell. I want to see Carly, I want to hold the baby, I want to congratulate her and also ask her a bunch of questions about the delivery. Christopher asks nicely to the driver to change the direction from the hospital to some hotel he chose. Guess he has stayed there before.
