I finally took an Uber towards the avenue that Chris told me days ago.
I was really enjoying the day, and no matter how hot it is, I will always enjoy walking down the streets. I go into a couple of stores and freshen up for a little bit while walking around them, looking at the clothing items.
—Is there anything I can help you with? -a blonde woman comes near me smiling-
—Oh, hi -I put the shirt back- I am actually looking for a job but I didn't noticed any sign
—I think we're hiring, but let me check again just to be sure -I nod and she left-
The blonde woman didn't last long
—You're on your lucky day -I smile at her- we're hiring. We'll need you to hand us your resumé and we'll be calling you.
—Good thing I came prepared -I start to look through my tote bag- here it is -I hand her the resumé-
—Okay -she smiles at me- we're looking forward to call you. Is there anything else that I can help you with? -she politely asks-
—I'll just keep looking, but I'll let you know if I need anything -I smile at her and she leaves after returning me a smile-
I keep looking through the store until I found a shirt that Sara would absolutely love, it's so her style. I knew she'd love it, I pick the right size and walk towards the cashier. After buying the shirt, I keep on walking around the streets. This place was quite interesting, you'll never know what to find on these streets, everything is really random but someway, somehow, it manages to fit all together, I guess this is what makes the L.A vibe
I see down the street a bakery, which reminds me of my old job back in Boston. I reminisce about Annie and her daughter, some mornings I kinda miss them, they were quite lovely... I dive into that store since I was craving sweets, I buy some biscuits and a chocolate muffin, I ate there the muffin along with an iced coconut milk. Weird combination, I know, but I guess I'm weird sometimes
I lasted about 4 hours just walking around, trying to get to know more California, I decided it was time to go back home when I couldn't handle the sweat running down my back. Chris wasn't home due to his work, I guess he'll start to be more busy than usual. I left the paper bag on the kitchen and the shirt I bought my sister on our bedroom, and went to take a bath. I blasted to The Fray's music to relax a little bit more
Chris didn't seem to be coming home any time near and I was getting really annoyed, I don't even know how many times I must have wandered around the house. I decided to bake or cook something while FaceTiming my sister
"You finally answer, girl. What are you up to?"
"I was studying but it's always better to talk to you... What are you doing? Is your boyfriend home?"
"I wish he was but he's working. How's everyone being besides my parents? I haven't speak to anyone since, you know... our cousin's passing"
"My aunt is still a nervous wreck, she doesn't want to leave the house and all she does is cry. I'm worried about her, I don't want her to be sick but I don't know how else she could mourn."
"I feel so sad about it. You know the only persons I used to talk a lot to were my cousin and you and now that I just talk to you it feels weird. Like something's missing"
"I feel the same way when I go to check on my aunt and everything's quiet. I stare at her room waiting for her to come out and put some music"
"I guess"
I think quick of something else to make the conversation less nostalgic
"Look what I'm trying to do"
"Move your phone, I can't see... You're trying to make pecan cookies? you now they're my favorite! Now I feel betrayed"
"I know they're. I hope Chris likes them, and if not, then I'll have a bunch of pecan cookies just to myself"
"Now that we're talking about Chris... How did he react to those articles?"
"He was mad, kind of upset and guilty but I told him not to worry. After all, it's not his fault"
"I know it's not, but he could do something about it, right?"
"I told him not to"
"Are you stupid? Why, Gaby?"
"You don't know Chris that well, but I don't want him to sink into a anxious state only because of some articles, he'll worry so much about protecting me or my image that he'll end up stressed and I don't want that. Besides, my family knows how everything went down and it's all that counts to me"
"You do realize the whole world is targeting you as a whore, right?"
I bit my cheek to that mention
"I don't care about the whole world"
"Well, you should. It's your image that's being damaged while Jenna's probably out there playing the victim! You got to do something about it... Or Chris, he can just tweet that those articles are not right"
"I think that's just a bomb because Chris is not the type of guy who usually is into drama, so let's just wait for it to be over. People will stop talking eventually"
"You're so stubborn, Gabriela"
"If people keep talking about it I will ask Chris to clarify everything through Twitter"
"Anyways, it's your life. You're the one to decide"
I was starting to get irritated at my sister's scolds
"Oh and have you met any celebrity yet? Other than Chris, of course"
"If Scott counts as a celebrity, then I have, If not, then no"
"I thought you already met Marvel Studios"
"Not yet, I mean Chris has talked about it but he hasn't set a date yet. When I go there, I'll probably call you or just record the place for you guys to see"
"That'll be more than amazing"
Sara and I talked the whole time, the cookies were done, cold and we still were talking. I was interrupted by a text from Chris letting me now he'll be home soon, I decided to cook dinner because it was almost 9PM now and he must be hungry. I made us some paninis because I was craving it, after 30 minutes Chris arrived and I ended the call with my sister
—Hi -he sighs coming to the kitchen to kiss me-
—Hi babe. You look pretty tired, how was your day?
—I am tired, more than you can even imagine. It was tiring, lot of physical activity -he sees the plates on the kitchen aisle- and hungry, too
—I figured it out -I chuckle, handing him the plate- remember to breathe -I joke as he bites the panini-
—It's good -he says with a mouthful-
