Prompt: it's thundering and Zach is very afraid of thunderstorms so he goes to Jonah, his thunder buddy

-Zach's POV-

I whimpered as thunder roared outside my window. I pulled my blanket closer to my neck as lighting lit up my room for a few seconds.

I crawled out of my bed and headed for my door. I slowly pulled it open, careful to not make more noise then necessary since I didn't want to wake up the rest of the boys that I lived with. Otherwise known as my band mates.

I took the few steps that I need until I reached the door to the person's room that I was looking for. I turned the knob slowly and opened it. I poked my head in and silently giggled as I saw how Jonah was sleeping. Jonah is someone I look up and maybe have a crush on. He's the older of the group and is always there for us when we need him. He's truly amazing and unique.

I whimpered loudly as thunder roared the silent night. My whimper caused Jonah to sit up quickly and look around the room until his eyes landed on me.  I mentally Awwwed at his messy hair and how he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand.

He looked outside and then back at me.

"Awww Bud, come here," he said as he held his hands open for me, tears welling up in my eyes. Thunderstorms were always so scary to me.

When I was little a thunderstorm destroyed our house. I was left alone, I couldn't find my parents. But then a firefighter found me roaming the forest and took me back to my parents. I was only 6 at the time and has stuck with me all this time. Very scary, especially when it was only a thunderstorm.

I ran into Jonah's arms as he immediately wrapped them around me. I laid my head on his shoulders as I sat on his lap, loving the way he rubbed soothing circles on the lower part of my back.

"Shhhh baby, I'm here," he whispered in my ear as he rocked me back and forth on his lap.

Jonah and I were secretly dating. It had only been two weeks. We haven't told the guys due to the fear of us breaking up and making the boys choose sides. I had explained to him how we should wait a month to at least tell them. That way if we didn't work out, we would be back friends and keep it professional and the guys wouldn't know. Unless we decided to tell them. So for now, we were secretly dating.

"It's scary," I whimpered, tears falling down my rosy cheeks and onto his bare shoulder since he was shirtless.

"I'll protect you, now and always," He whispered as he laid me down next to him, him soon laying down as well.

"Thank you bubba," I told him as he smiled down at me. Bud and bubba was our nickname for each other. Of course none of the other boys knew, at times it would slip out but we would just make up an excuse.

I snuggled into his chest and listened to his heartbeat. Jonah meant so much to me. He truly understood me and never judged me. I love him with all my heart. It was early to say but I felt it.

"Thank you baby. For everything," I whispered, running my fingers through his chest.

"Thank you for making me happy," he whispered back, running his hands through my hair.

I sighed in content, feeling his fingers run through my hair. My tense muscles slowly began to relax and my eyes became tired.

"Sleep Bud, I'll be here when you wake up," he whispered into my ear as I softly nodded and drifted into a deep slumber.

"We're thunder buddies baby and I'll always protect you from everything," was the last thing I heard him whisper.

Thunder buddies was something since the start of the band. He would be my buddy during a thunderstorm. I would go to his room and sleep there. It was our thing.

Thunder buddies.
