Annie didn't want to return to camp just yet. She was in a sudden state of happiness, and didn't want to be faced with all her problems that seemed to spend their time at camp. With her legs taking control of her body and her brain sitting back to relax, Annie started heading into the jungle, in the opposite direction of the camp. She didn't know where she was headed, but started to notice the light slowly dimming around her.
Looking up at the sky, Annie could see small fragments of light trying to crack through the dense green trees. The sun was still high, but was struggling to illuminate the dirt path Annie was walking on. The brunette realized that she was heading into a part of the jungle that she had never been to before, as the path became cracked pavement and the type of tree was now pine. Annie continued walking, the air so still and so silent that she would've been able to hear a pin hit the pavement with a hushed ding.
The path traveled on, the needles of the pine trees slowly changing from dark green to a dull pink. Small noises started to reach Annie's ears, like the innocent chirps of birds communicating with their loved ones. Annie squinted her eyes as she noticed something up ahead on the path. As she got closer, she realized it was a curtain made of vines and flowers. Annie couldn't see past it, and stood on the path staring at it, debating if she should go through it.
The girl looked around her, curiousity getting the best of her as she moved the curtain aside and walked through it. What met her eyes was something Annie had never seen before, even on an island as magical as Neverland. The pink trees were brighter, with small twinkling lights weaved through their branches. The trees surrounded the pavement as it curved into a circle, creating a large room in the jungle. There was pillows and blankets made out of soft leaves and ferns, looking as though someone had been sleeping in this room. Annie's green eyes wandered, her mouth slightly open in shock. The only thing that seemed to be out of place was the short pile of clothing tossed to one side of the room.
A firefly made it's way over, it's tiny wings fluttering in midair as it stopped right in front of Annie. The girl felt her eyes cross as she admired the firefly, before it zipped away.
"You weren't supposed to find this place." Peter spoke behind Annie, his voice sounding more amused than mad. Annie quickly turned around, the air feeling warm against her skin as she moved through it.
"What is this place?" Annie asked, trying to prevent her eyes from wandering away from Peter and at the scenery around him.
Peter shrugged, walking forwards. "Just a place I like to come and think." He replied, holding out his hand. A firefly landed on his finger, flickering happily before flying away.
"Why did you want me to find it?" Annie's eyes narrowed as she watched Peter walk closer, confused as to what he was doing. He looked around his own room, as if he was seeing everything in it for the first time.
"I didn't want you to find it. You followed a path, and found it for yourself." Peter's attention snapped over to Annie, and his movement came to a halt.
Annie didn't know what to say or do. Peter stood about ten feet away from her, his green eyes caught with her own. She felt like she shouldn't be here, in his space, but her feet couldn't bring themselves to start moving.
"You should go." Peter spoke, his voice low and cautious. Without hesitation, Annie walked past him and through the curtain made of vines.
Instead of being back on the pavement path surrounded by pink trees and minimal light, Annie was just outside camp, looking in from the familiar dirt path. The boys were all sitting on logs with a fire roaring in front of them. Victor was with them, sitting with Jakob.
Annie looked behind her, confused on how she got here but figured Pan had just used his magic. She walked through the trees and into the camp, immediately being noticed by all the boys. The ones that weren't facing her had turned to see her, and Jakob was now on his feet with an expression of worry and anger on his face.
"Annie." Jakob spoke, relieved to see the girl back at camp.
"What's going on?" Annie asked as she walked closer, her eyes shifting from boy to boy as they all watched her movements.
"Grayson's alive, and we know where he is."
