Annie's legs felt like Jello as she followed Peter to camp, exhaustion threatening to take over her body at any second. Annie was drained from the day's events. All she wanted to do was make sure all the boys were okay, then go take a long nap in her tent.
"You alright?" Peter asked, looking over his shoulder at the brunette girl behind him.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. I'm good." Annie replied, forcing her tired green eyes to look at Peter. Annie's heartbeat thumped softly in her ears, taking note of her pulse and how the blood felt running throughout her body. Her senses seemed to be heightened, as if she could feel the newly found magic coursing through her veins. Annie was on edge, her ears picking up every subtle sound around her. The crunching of Peter's shoes on the dirt path was enough to give her a headache. A twig snapped nearby, Annie jumping two feet in the air.
"It's just an animal, Annie." Peter chuckled softly with a hint of nervousness. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, I just really wanna get back to camp." Annie replied. She squeezed her eyes shut to try and clear her mind before continuing to follow Peter.
A few minutes later, Annie and Peter were met with cheers and shouts from the Lost boys as they broke out of the dense jungle. The uninjured boys made their way over, taking turns hugging Annie. The girl was thankful to have something else hold up her body for a brief moment as she hugged the boys.
"Thanks for saving my life." Troye mumbled in Annie's ear as he hugged her. The two pulled away, Annie just giving him a small smile in response.
Grayson was the last to approach Annie, the other boys heading back to sit by the fire with their dinners.
"How's your arm?" Annie blurted out, not knowing what else to say to the boy.
"I'll be alright. How are you?" Grayson pulled Annie in for a one armed hug, his other one wrapped up in a bandage. His wound from Miles' arrow couldn't be seen.
"I've definitely had better days. I'm just glad you're all okay." Annie told him, closing her eyes as she allowed the warmth of Grayson and his familiar scent encase her in a peaceful bliss.
"Troye told me you healed him." Grayson stated, his voice much quieter. Annie pulled away, knowing what Grayson was thinking.
"I have magic. I used it to escape the pirates, and I think Peter knows I have it." Annie explained, her gaze shifting from Grayson's face to where his brother sat by the fire with Felix at his side.
"Pan knows everything, Annie." Grayson reminded the girl. She nodded, knowing that he was right. "Anyways, are you hungry? The boys made dinner."
"Starving." Annie replied as she followed Grayson over to the fire. He attempted to prepare Annie a plate of food but she stopped him, being fully capable to get her own meal. Grayson smiled sheepishly knowing he wasn't much use with only one arm.
