Lieutenant General Vale? Why is he the man recruiting us? I think to myself as we speed down the road. "I've heard that both of you are prodigies in your respective ways, I'm anxious so see how talented you both truly are." Vale says with a grin. Moxi smiles at me then looks at the scenery as we drive. We pull into a gated checkpoint around 28 minutes after leaving the school. The guard looks at Vale, then all of us. "Who are your friends here?" The guard says sarcastically. A slight chill reverberates through the air as the guard and Vale both look back at us. "They are our new recruits." Vale says with a smile. "What was that?" I mumble to myself as the large chain gate opens and we drive in. we quickly pull up to the front of a large concrete and steel building with a few hand sized holes in the front wall. "Looks like a Barrett 50Cal hit the front of the building a few times." I mumble as Vale laughs. "I was just a little upset, but come on, I have to introduce you to the other recruits." Vale says as he gets out of the jeep. Moxi and I follow as he walks us through the base. We see several people inside working and a staircase leading underground, and up to the second level. "There's an underground?" I ask as Vale nods. "This base actually extends 7 stories beneath the Earth. It was constructed 5 years ago and completed within 2 months of starting." Vale says as Moxi and I look around in amazement at the solid construction of it. "The only thing that'll even manage to hit the 7th underground level bunker would be a high-class demon or angel. Not even a nuclear blast could destroy the barrier in between level 6 and 7." Vale says as he leads us out a backdoor and onto a massive stone foundation that stretches out for miles. About 20 feet in front of us we see 7 other people standing and sitting around. "Why are you guys slacking around!?" Vale yells as all but 2 of the 7 quickly stand shoulder to shoulder up straight. "So why aren't you two standing at attention?" Vale asks as a buff guy walks toward him. "I heard you were really strong, but to me, you look like a bitch." The big man says to Vale. Vale nods and scratches his chin. "Well, I'll make you a deal, if you can knock me off my feet, I'll make sure you're promoted to a high rank very quickly. Better yet, if you can beat me in a fight, I'll let you have my rank and I'll straight up retire." Vale says with a smirk as the buff guy pops his neck. "This'll be easy!" The man yells as he rears his arm back and swings as hard as he can. As I blink, Vale is gone before the man's fist even got halfway. All of us quickly look around before I hear him cough. I quickly look back and see him standing on the top of the base behind us. He has a long robe on him now. "I'm sorry, I got a little chilly, so I ran home and put on my evening robes for warmth. I hope I didn't keep you waiting Marco." Vale says obviously talking to the man who he's fighting. "How did you get to the roof so quickly?" Marco asks as Vale sighs. "Technically I went home which is 30 miles away, grabbed my robe, and came back. I was a little slower than normal because I was in no real rush." Vale remarks as I look on in amazement. Vale quickly hops off the roof and starts falling to the ground, but he never makes it. My eyes can't follow when it happened, but at some point, while he was falling, he vanished again. "You really should pay more attention." I hear Vale say from behind me. As I turn back around, I see Vale standing behind Marco. "Stop playing tricks on me! There's no way anyone could ever be that fast!" Marco yells as he swings his arm back towards Vale. His arm seems to phase directly through Vale. "You almost hit me." Vale says while yawning. "How did I miss?" Marco mumbles while looking at his fist. "Well, you probably didn't see it, but I dodged. I just moved fast enough you couldn't even tell I moved." Vale says as Marco yells and throws quite a few punches towards Vale. After nearly a minute of Marco attacking Vale, Marco is gasping for breath. As Marco pulls his fist back to attack again, Vale quickly sweeps his legs and punches him in the shoulder. Marco rolls around on the ground screaming in pain. I see the shoulder that got hit is completely broken with splinters of bone poking through his flesh. Vale vanishes for a few seconds before re-appearing with 3 others. The 3 other people quickly grab Marco and teleport away. "Is he going to be ok?" I ask as Vale smiles. "He'll be fine, that was our medical team, they'll make sure he goes home as good as new." Vale says as Moxi laughs. "Good as new, huh? So, you're sending him home?" Moxi asks as Vale nods. "He would've only rushed to his imminent demise in a real battle with that ignorant and misplaced confidence." Vale says as he looks back at the other guy sitting on the ground. "Are you also going to be sprinting to your death? Or will you be acting with more intelligence than Marco?" He asks almost sarcastically to the man sitting on the ground. The man quickly stands up and smiles. "I wish I could sprint to my death, but unfortunately, there doesn't exist a man alive that can kill me." He says as Vale laughs. "In all honesty, after reading your file, I don't doubt that's the truth, Sorin." Vale says as Sorin pops his neck and stands next to the other recruits. "I'm just here to test my skills and hopefully find a being that can kill me." Sorin says as I stare at him.
