As I jolt awake, I feel a bead of sweat roll down my cheek. I grip the sheets on the bed as I quickly look around. I notice I'm not in one of the beds I saw inside the base. I'm on a large bed with an elaborate wood frame and thick white and red sheets. A few stray rays of sunlight coming through the curtains on the window near me. The type of bed and room you would see in a mansion. I start to stand up, but I'm halted by a knock at the wooden door. "Yes?" I say as the door creeks open. A woman wearing a black maid outfit walks in with a clipboard of sorts. "How are you feeling today?" She asks without looking up from the board. "I feel fine, what exactly happened? My memory is a little hazy." I say as she walks over to me and puts her hand to my forehead. She quickly checks off on something on the paper before inspecting my eyes, face, and hair. "Your friend is across the hallway, he asked to see you when you awoke." The maid says as she starts to leave the room. "Uh, Miss? Where exactly am I?" I ask as she quickly stops. "You are at Adamace Manor. It would be in your best interest to respect my mistress's hospitality." The maid says as she quickly exits the room. I quickly roll out of the bed. The cool wood floor feels smooth and oddly foreign under my feet as I walk to the door. I slowly open the door, slightly hesitant for some reason. I see a hallway leading left and right with 2 different staircases on both sides. I see 3 other doors in this hallway. One directly in front of me, and two more on the other side of the hallway, closer to the staircases. As I walk across the hallway to the room the maid said my friend was, I hear snoring. I slowly open the door to see the covers on the bed tossed all over. I see a few strands of blonde hair peeking from below the bottom edge of the bed. As I pull the cover up a little, I see Moxi smiling at me. I quickly drop the covers back on top of him. He throws the cover off and jumps towards me. Out of reflex, I step to the side and he hits his head on the floor. He quickly stands up and shakes his fist at me. "You will accept my love or I'll make you." He growls jokingly. I quickly sigh and put him in a headlock while scratching the top of his head with my middle knuckle. "Were you that worried about me? Were you so scared to lose me, that you realized your true feelings?" I ask sarcastically as he laughs. "Is it a crime to worry about my best friend?" He asks as I nod. "Yes, your sentence is death." I say as I hear footsteps behind me in the hallway. I quickly look over my shoulder to see Sheeva staring at me. She still has on her black dress. She quickly teleports to me and grabs my wrist and lifts me off the ground. She stares into my eyes as I stare back and blush slightly. "Why are you blushing, Malick?" Moxi says slyly as Sheeva kicks him in the face and knocks him back to the wall. "Ah!Moxi! Are you ok?" I ask as Moxi grunts in pain. "Oh, he's fine, no more need to worry." I mumble as Sheeva puts me down. "How are you feeling?' She asks as I rub my wrist from where she was holding me off the ground. "I feel fine. Just confused on what happened to me?" I reply as Sheeva inspects me. "Your energy seems normal." She mumbles as she stares at me. "Is that a good thing or not?" I ask as she thinks to herself for a moment. "This is unprecedented in the DAHC. It definitely a good thing that you ae alive, but for your energy level to not have changed at all is concerning." Sheeva says while staring at me. "We need to start your training in any case." She says as she quickly walks out of the room. As she enters the hall, she looks back to me over her shoulder. "Meet me in the lobby downstairs whenever you're ready." She says as she quickly walks away. "I think she's taken a liking to you." Moxi says as he stands up. "So' I'll be training with you." Moxi says as I look at him. "Wouldn't you be training with Vale with the other recruits?" I ask as Moxi laughs. "Well you know I couldn't lose to you, so I challenged Sheeva." Moxi says with a smile as I stare at him in disbelief. "How are you not dead?" I ask as he laughs. "I think she respected my guts, or she sensed the energy from that syringe I took." Moxi says while flexing his right arm. No, she wouldn't just have you on her radar for a singular energy like that, unless that energy was quite impressive. I think to myself as Moxi quickly bolts out of the room. I quickly follow as we both jump down the stairs and enter the main lobby to the large building. I see Sheeva standing by the door waiting. She waves for us to follow her outside. We run up behind her as she walks outside, the light partially hurting my eyes. As my eyes adjust, I see a small stone courtyard with 4 pillars. Each corner has a thick stone pillar rising up almost 20 feet. "We'll start off with the most basic of physical training." Sheeva says as she looks at Moxi and I. "Both of you attack me like your lives depend on it." She says calmly as Moxi runs towards her. As he starts to throw a punch, she kicks his knee in and kicks him in the face with her other foot. As Moxi hits the ground a few feet from me, I hear him grunt in pain. "I need both of you to attack me." She says as I feel fear flowing through me. She's terrifying. I think as Moxi's leg heals and he stands back up. "I definitely heal much faster than any normal human would." Moxi says as he looks back to me. "Come on Malick, I thought you said you wouldn't lose to me." Moxi says while grinning. I take a deep breath and sprint towards Sheeva with Moxi by my side.
