I. Twenty-four

NARRATOR'S POV

BANDANG ALAS-SINGKO NG HAPON. Makikita sila Kish at Lucy na palabas bahay. Nakangiti nang husto si Lucy samantalang biglang napalis ang matamis na ngiti ni Kish.

Hinawakan siya ni Lucy sa braso at sabay na silang lumulan ng kotse. "Resort, please." wika ni Lucy sa driver.

Huminga nang malalim si Kish na ikinatingin naman sa kaniya ni Lucy, bagaman hindi ito nagsalita. Pinagmasdan ni Kish ang labas habang sinasariwa sa isipan ang nangyari pa lamang kanina.

KISH POV

"You gotta try this, Love. This is a special cappuccino cupcake and it really tastes heaven, believe me." aniya at agad itong iniumang sa bibig ko na kinagatan ko na lamang.

'It's good!' Halos pabulong kong sambit matapos itong malasahan. Ngumiti siya nang malawak at tiningnan ang Mommy niya, "Told you. My mom is the best Mommy."

Ngumiti ako at yumuko, "Nagustuhan ko po, Mrs. Torres." Nagdala iyon ng ngiti sa Ginang na ikinapanatag ko naman.

"So, King, what is it that brought you here?" Masaya ng tanong ng Ginang.

Tila desidido na ito sa kung ano man ang sasabihin ko kaya naman tumayo ako at inayos ang kurbata. "Sir, Ma'am, I'm here to have your blessing. I'm here to... get your approval if," minukat-mukat ko ang mata at huminga nang malalim. Dahil sa matinding kaba ay pati ang sasabihin ko ay nakakalimutan ko na.

"Mom, Dad, what he's about to say is- If it's okay if he court me along with his family. With Palles Family, in short." ngiting-ngiti niyang wika sabay hilig sa akin. "Right, Love?"

'King? Ngayon naman Palles. This is getting insane.'

"O-Op-"

"Palles Family?" Tila manghang-mangha na sambit nito. "This surname seems familiar." aniya uli't tila nag-isip. "But, however, are you two planning to get married? Isn't it too early for that? I mean, Hija, Hijo, naiintindihan ko naman na nasa tamang edad na kayo somehow to get married, but don't you want to spend each other's lives together without any hassles attachment?"

"Mom!" Lucy exclaimed. "You're too advance. Of course, it'll happen not this year but... maybe next year is enough time. We're not in a hurry, you know." nakangiti nitong sambit habang namumula ang pisngi.

Ngumiti ako at marahang tumango. "If only we can do it now, but we can't." ani ko at nakitawa. "We still have a lot of city to visit."

Ngumiti ang Ginang sa akin, mayamaya ay lumamlam ang mata. "Lucy... honestly is a spoiled child. She'll get what she want and if she don't get it, she'll nag about it over and over,"

"Mom..." akmang pagpapatigil ni Lucy subalit nagpatuloy ang Ina.

"She's our only child, my only daughter and of course our princess. Our happiness is to get everything she wanted because that's what we can do. She excel in school and in businesses everywhere. On the other hand..." tiningnan niya ako sa aking mga mata. "...she's fragile and unloved. We can't give her the love she wanted. So, Hijo, as a gratitude of bestowing my blessings with you two, take care of her for us and love her unconditionally. As a mother, that's what I was just wishing for. Now that I know, there's a man I can entrust my daughter's safety, I don't have to be worried everytime she's outside." wika nito't ngumiti nang malumanay. "Take care of her. Love her."

KISH Point Of View

Nagising ako sa tila malalim na pagkalunod nang maramdaman ko ang pagyakap sa akin ni Lucy mula sa tagiliran. "Love, what are you staring in there?" She curiously ask and even take a peep.
