Genders in Korean (성별)

Let's just get right into it!

Genders - 성별 - seong-byeol

Female - 여성 - yeo-seong

Woman - 여자 - yeo-ja (does also mean girl/s)

There is a kpop group called girlfriend (여자친구 - yeo-ja-chin-gu) 여자 - girl and 친구 - friend. Together it is 여자친구 - girlfriend)

Girl - 소녀 - so-nyeo

You know Girls' Generation the kpop group? 소녀시대 - so-nyeo-shi-dae. 소녀 - so-nyeo which means girl or girls and 시대 - shi-dae which means generation.

There is also 우주소녀 - wu-ju-so-nyeo which is also a kpop group and means cosmic - 우주 - wu-ju and girls - 소녀 - so-nyeo. Cosmic girls.

Male - 남성 - nam-seong

Man - 남자 - nam-ja (does also mean boy, but is mostly used for man)

Again there is a kpop group called boyfriend (which is the same as I explained earlier about Girlfriend)

Boy - 소년 - so-nyeon (notice that it is the same as (소녀 - girl) but with n - ㄴ at the end.)

방탄소년단 - bang-tan-so-nyeon-dan Which also is a kpop group and means bullet proof boy scout.
