If you watch Korean dramas you most likely have noticed that they use "our" instead of "my" in some sentences where it would make more sense to use "my" in English.
My = 나의 - naiee (pronounciation) - (romanization = nauee)
Our = 우리 - uri
For example:
"우리 엄마" which is directly translated to "our mom" but it actually means "my mom" (in some contexts though, it does mean "our mom". It all depends on the context) Koreans use "our" instead of "my" frequently and it shows the collectivity in their culture.
My country = 우리 나라 - uri nara
My home/house = 우리 집 - uri jib (If you listen to 2PM's "My House", you can hear them use this expression.)
My school = 우리 학교 - uri hakkyo
My family = 우리 가족 - uri kajok
My father = 우리 아빠 - uri abba
My wife = 우리 아내 - uri anae
Hope that was helpful! This will help you sound more like a Korean! Ou
