These two particles are the same as -을 and -를, however it is used differently. Both are attached to the subject. However -이 and -가  are both often used when talking about something you have. -이 is attached to a word that ends with a consonant. -가 is attached to a word that ends with a vowel.

To have = 있다
Have/has = 있어(요) (present tense)
Had = 있어서(요) (past tense)

Examples with 이:

저는 집요 = I have a house
나는 잭어서요 = I had a book

Examples with 가:

나는 차요 = I have a car
저는 개어서요 = I had a dog

In our last lesson 있어 was used differently and had another meaning. 있다 can also mean "to be" but only when talking about prepositions or places. For example 책 탁자 있어요 which translates to "the book is on the table".

에 = At, on, in, into, to
